This position is with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC) supporting the Facilities Operations Team. OA-FMDC is committed to strengthening the State’s investments while providing a safe and secure environment through innovative design solutions and excellent customer service.

  • Prioritize excellent customer service for wide and diverse network of internal and external stakeholders, including but not limited to internal teams, state agencies, state officials, contractors, and the public.
  • Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, service, and repair of electrical systems (including three-phase power systems), equipment, generators, and appliances such as refrigeration units, water heaters, and kitchen appliances.
  • Install, maintain, and repair AC and DC electrical wiring systems, power sources, laboratory equipment, and other components such as conduit, electrical panels, signal and alarm systems, lighting, receptacles, relays and controls, motors, generators, rectifiers, transformers, electric meters, etc.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, remodel, and repair of overhead and concealed electrical circuits and components, including oiling, cleaning, brush replacement, and other repair of equipment as required.
  • Receive assignments via work orders and phone calls, determine most efficient work methods, and proceed with little technical supervision. Estimate time and materials required to complete a work order.
  • May perform or assist with preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports, and maintenance of records.
  • Respond to emergency calls and occasionally travel to other facilities to provide coverage and assistance.
  • Provide coverage at state facilities after hours and/or for emergency purposes (i.e., severe weather, snow removal, water leaks, fire, and more) to ensure facilities and grounds are properly maintained and cleared for team members and the public to conduct state business.
  • Follow all OA-FMDC health and safety protocols in addition to OSHA standards.
  • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and lead with integrity in a manner that inspires trust and builds positive rapport with a diverse group of stakeholders and the public.
  • Ability to plan, manage, and direct numerous time-sensitive projects independently or as part of a team using procedures, processes, regulations, and practices applicable to a specialized trade.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex technical documentation and work from blueprints, sketches, and specifications to prepare estimates of time and materials required to complete a job.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and electrical codes.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in trades, building maintenance, or construction. (Prior experience in three-phase power systems preferred.)
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70/National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Safety-first mindset with considerable knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and protocol. (OSHA 10 or 30 preferred, but FMDC can provide.)
  • Excellent attendance, work ethic, attention to detail, conflict management, and critical thinking skills; ability to interpret and apply feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to discern skill set needed for projects and whether it can be completed in-house or by a contractor.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver license from Missouri or from an adjacent state if you reside outside of Missouri.

The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

*This position is physically demanding. Examples of job duties may include prolonged periods of walking/standing/sitting/bending/driving, climbing ladders, ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, working in inclement weather and working on uneven or elevated surfaces. This list is not all inclusive, but a general representation of duties that may be encountered in this position, however other duties may be assigned contingent upon business needs. Please note, this position is considered a “Category 2” under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), meaning the incumbent will be compensated for overtime (hours actually worked over forty hours in a workweek) at the rate of time and one-half.
