About the role

Job Title: Cabinet Shop Production Lead

Department(s): Woodshop/Cabinet Assembly

Reports to: Woodshop Supervisor

Supervises: No direct reports


The Cabinet Shop Production Lead assists the supervisor with overseeing daily operations on the shop floor of a cabinetry manufacturing facility. This role supports coordination of workflow, ensures quality standards are met, enforces safety compliance, and supports team members to achieve production targets efficiently and on schedule. This is a hands-on working lead role. The ideal candidate has strong woodworking knowledge, leadership skills, and hands-on experience in cabinet fabrication.


What you'll do

  • Lead a team of assemblers and machine operators in a cabinet shop.
  • Working lead will be an active participant of the machining, assembly, and finishing processes. Will be required to run any production machines or work on assembly/finishing lines in the event of operator absence.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and work orders. Communicate requirements to assemblers and machine operators.
  • Ensure all cabinetry meets quality standards and design specifications
  • Train, mentor, and support production staff to improve skills and efficiency
  • Monitor workflow and adjust assignments to prevent bottlenecks
  • Enforce safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • Inspect materials and finished products for defects or inconsistencies
  • Collaborate with management, engineering, and production control teams to resolve issues.
  • Maintain inventory of materials and report shortages or equipment needs
  • Ability to work flexible schedules and overtime as needed.
  • Responsible for additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or as deemed necessary by management.
  • Strictly adheres to all safety rules; performs tasks in such a manner as to prevent personal injury and/or damage to plant equipment. Immediately report any potential, unsafe conditions as well as all accidents and injuries to the department supervisor.

Qualifications

1. Education: High School Diploma / GED or Tech Certification in drafting, engineering technology, woodworking, or related field

2. Experience: 3-5+ years related experience in a cabinetry, millwork, or manufacturing environment

3. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

    • Basic literacy and mathematical skills (simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
    • Ability to operate various shop machinery (e.g., CNC routers, table saws, edge banders)
    • Basic ability to navigate computer and software systems necessary to perform necessary functions including Company ERP system
    • Proficient with measuring tools – tape measure, calipers.
    • Strong knowledge of cabinet construction methods, materials, and hardware
    • Experience in cabinet finishing.
    • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and work order travelers
    • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
    • Strong organizational and time management abilities
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to stand for extensive periods of time. Manual labor, to include gross and fine motor skills, is extensive. The ability to lift merchandise and materials weighing up to 65lbs, while adhering to the company safety policy for lifting, is frequent.


Environmental Conditions

Work performed under normal manufacturing plant and warehouse conditions, without climate control. Temperatures, noise volume and air quality may be considered to some as slightly disagreeable. The company will furnish all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at no cost to the employee, and the company is committed to complying with regulatory inspection for the safety and wellbeing of those employed.
