The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has an exciting opportunity within our Pacific Cascade Region as a Facility Services Coordinator.

Located in beautiful southwest Washington, we have an exciting opportunity for you to become part of a dedicated group of professionals who are focused on supporting the staff of multiple natural resource programs benefiting the citizens of Washington State. We are seeking a detailed and organized individual with knowledge and experience in facilities management, construction, and/or maintenance to fill our Facility Services Coordinator position located in Castle Rock, Washington.
This position directly ties to DNR’s Core Value of Safety and Well-Being, and our top priority is the safety of the public and our employees. This position is responsible for the facility management, maintenance, improvements, and supervision of the Facilities/Warehouse work unit. The Facility Services Coordinator supports the Pacific Cascade Region operations by performing tasks to facilitate the efficient and cost-effective management of facilities, including preventative maintenance and improvements of facilities located throughout the region. This position plays an important role in ensuring statewide consistency in implementing cost-effective core business and support functions while developing practical solutions to benefit all DNR programs. This position is critical to the Agency’s mission to provide professional, forward-looking stewardship of our state lands, natural resources, and environment; and to provide leadership in creating a sustainable future for the Trusts and all citizens.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure all DNR facilities in the Pacific Cascade Region are maintained in a safe, clean condition and are properly furnished for operational needs.
- Identify and coordinate maintenance and repairs of DNR facilities, including preparing the scope of work and overseeing the compliance of service contracts and limited public works contracts.
- Assess and make recommendations on short and long-term facility planning within the region.
- Oversee the management of emergency/disaster equipment and supplies at all Region facilities.
- Monitor and maintain safety, security, fire protection, and environmental control systems to ensure all facilities provide a safe and secure work environment.
- Responsible for the management of the warehouse and fire cache support for the region.
- Supervise and assist staff in stocking and maintain warehouse, and conduct ordering for the region.
- Supervise and assist staff to maintain the Region's vehicle fleet.
- Provide supervision and mentoring to direct reports (Maintenance Mechanic 3 and Procurement & Supply Specialist 2).
- Serve as the Region’s point of contact (POC) with Enterprise Services – Facilities Section.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a closely related field AND one year of experience in coordinating facility maintenance;
OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. - Experience in facilities management, construction, and/or maintenance.
- Supervisory experience, with skills including setting expectations and following up, mentoring, and addressing performance shortcomings.
- Experience implementing safety requirements for materials, buildings, equipment, and employees, and the ability to mitigate hazards and risks.
- Knowledge of purchasing processes, rules, and authorities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills: with management, staff, vendors, and a broad spectrum of individuals.
- Proficient computer skills: able to maintain database information and process large amounts of data in order to manage building and equipment records. This includes knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Accustomed to effectively prioritizing and scheduling facility maintenance and repair workload.
- Accustomed to working independently or as a team on assigned tasks.

- This position is in a shop/warehouse setting at the Pacific Cascade Region Headquarters
located in Castle Rock, WA. The environment is a combination of indoor work, with the majority of the time in a warehouse setting. Record-keeping and reporting duties will occur in an office setting. Occasional outdoor work is also expected and can be in all weather conditions, including heavy rain, snow, and heat. Incumbent operates equipment to perform some elements of the job, which may occur in inclement weather. Driving vehicles to other locations, generally
highway driving, but some off-highway. Must be able to maneuver up to 50 pounds, lifting or using a handcart. - This position requires travel within the region, which may include overnight. A small portion will be outside the region for training or fire assignments.
- A current, valid driver’s license and two years of driving experience. Additionally, DNR requires state drivers to possess a license that is not suspended, revoked, or restricted (for example, Occupational/Restricted Driver Licenses or requiring ignition interlock devices). This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.
- Must have or be able to obtain forklift certification.
- Degree in business administration.
- Two (2) years’ experience planning, scheduling, or coordinating facility maintenance and/or construction projects.
- Experience in managing buildings and grounds (maintenance, upkeep, improvement).
- Trades experience in building construction or maintenance (such as plumbing, electrical, etc.).
- Forklift certification.
