Director of Inpatient Services at Buchanan County Health Center – Independence, Iowa

The Director of Inpatient Services provides leadership, accountability, and operational oversight for both inpatient and outpatient clinical service lines including:

• Med-Surg Unit (acute, observation, post-operative, hospitality)
• Skilled Nursing / Swing Bed
• Hospice Services
• Social Services/Case Management/Utilization Review Program
• Outpatient Infusion Services
• Respiratory Therapy Services/Sleep Lab/EKG

This position ensures the highest standards of patient care and safety, regulatory compliance, while fostering a culture of clinical excellence and continuous improvement.

This position reports directly to the Chief Nursing Officer.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration (MHA), or related field preferred.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) Iowa License
• ACLS, BLS required; PALS, preferred

• Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, preferably in a critical access hospital or rural healthcare setting.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, financial management, and staff development capabilities.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
