We are looking for a full-time Senior Accountant at our Tonawanda, NY location. This is an onsite position that is responsible for providing accounting support to the Finance leadership team. The Senior Accountant provides support by researching and analyzing accounting records, preparing general ledger journal entries in accordance with GAAP, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements and financial analysis/reports for 5 operating companies.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties and responsibilities in compliance with CPEG Buffalo’s accounting procedures;
  • Monthly accounting; closing of ledgers and subledgers;
  • Prepare reconciliation/schedules for balance sheet accounts;
  • Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data;
  • Analyze monthly and quarterly financial results;
  • Prepare financial budgets and forecasts;
  • Analysis and explanation of budget vs. actual variances
  • Preparation of responses to year-end audit requests;
Requirements:
  • Associate’s degree in accounting or related field required;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred;
  • 3 years+ experience in accounting preferred;
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the accounting field;
  • Develop professional and process expertise to provide improved assistance to internal and external customers;
  • Maintain a customer-focused perspective in all activities initiated to ensure that customer needs are successfully met;
  • Relies on judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals;
  • Ability to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Able to maintain effective working relationships with staff and those encountered in the course of work;
  • Able to carry out detailed written or oral instructions;
  • Able to manage a number of projects at one time with frequent interruptions;
  • Experience with Syteline ERP system preferred;
  • Manufacturing experience preferred;
  • Experience with financial budgeting and forecasting preferred.
  • Experience with state sales tax reporting and compliance preferred
