R&D Tech -Food Science|Product Development|Food Manufacturing at CandyCo LLC – Lindon, Utah

Job Purpose

CandyCo LLC, a Lindon, UT manufacturer of chocolates, caramels, and confections, is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Research and Development Technician with an eye for accuracy and presentation to help prepare product samples and sample shipments.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work as part of the R&D team in creation of confection product samples
• Source and manage incoming R&D ingredients
• Maintain comprehensive documentation related to ingredients
• Manage and document formulation changes and pricing
• Properly label, store, and organize product samples to preserve freshness and quality
• Maintain an orderly work environment
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with various departments on R&D initiatives
• Support SQF status by demonstrating a commitment to producing safe food
• Support product development projects from concept to commercialization
• Obtain market awareness and support trend research
• Assist with other projects, on the bench, plant floor, or in office as needed

Qualifications

• Passion for presentation (making products look good)
• Independent, reliable and accurate execution of tasks
• Comfortable juggling busy list of priorities and asking clarifying questions
• Ability to follow directions & recipes
• Bilingual skills preferred, not required (English, Spanish)

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, science-based or culinary curriculum
• Basic computer and mathematical skills including data and spreadsheet management and weight and measurement conversions
• Competence in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Food preparation experience preferred

Working Conditions

• Willing to work other shifts as directed
• Must be able to work overtime as necessary, including Holidays and/or weekends
• Standing/walking for long period of time
• Must be an avid Safety Champion and adhere to all safety programs and procedures

Physical Requirements

• A non-slip resistant work shoe
• Pre-shift stretch and exercises to be performed
• Hair restraint, beard net (if needed), and Safety gloves as needed
• All required PPEs are worn properly when working with equipment or chemicals that require personal protection
• Position requires the ability to: stand, sit at a desk, walking around the facility, lifting and carrying up t0 50-LBS assisted, reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting
• Also requires the ability to: see, hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette
