Position Title: MEP Field Manager II (Electrical)

Position Location: Location varies by assignment. 75–100% travel across the U.S. unless assigned to an extended project. Must be located near a major US airport.

Job Summary

The MEP Field Manager II (Electrical) serves as DLB’s onsite field leadership representative responsible for supervising electrical construction activities for large-scale mission-critical facilities, including hyperscale data centers.

Reporting to the Senior MEP Construction Manager, this role focuses on daily field management, contractor supervision, installation oversight, and coordination of electrical infrastructure including medium- and low-voltage distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, busway, grounding systems, and associated controls infrastructure.

The MEP Field Manager II (Electrical) works directly with general contractors, electrical subcontractors, equipment vendors, commissioning teams, and owner stakeholders to ensure installations meet project requirements for safety, quality, schedule, operability, and commissioning readiness.

This position plays a critical role in hyperscale data center delivery environments where schedule discipline, installation quality, and operational reliability are essential. The MEP Field Manager II (Electrical) actively supervises electrical trade activities in the field, verifies installation compliance with design documents and standards, identifies risks early, and supports issue resolution to maintain construction progress.

The MEP Field Manager II (Electrical) performs most daily field management responsibilities with moderate autonomy while escalating complex technical, safety, or coordination challenges to the Senior MEP Construction Manager. This role supports commissioning readiness and helps ensure electrical infrastructure is installed to support reliable startup, functional testing, and turnover to operations.

The MEP Field Manager II (Electrical) will communicate and operate in line with organizational and client goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Field Supervision & Electrical Trade Management

Provide day-to-day onsite supervision of electrical construction activities for hyperscale data center projects.Oversee installation of electrical infrastructure including switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS systems, PDUs, busway systems, cable tray, grounding networks, and power distribution equipment.Monitor contractor performance and work quality to ensure installations meet drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.Directly coordinate with electrical subcontractors to maintain schedule alignment and installation sequencing.Conduct routine field inspections and walkthroughs to verify progress, identify deficiencies, and ensure adherence to project standards.

Construction Coordination & Trade Integration

Coordinate electrical construction activities with mechanical, controls, fire protection, and architectural trades to prevent installation conflicts.Participate in daily construction coordination meetings, planning sessions, and contractor progress reviews.Assist with schedule sequencing for major electrical equipment installations and system energization activities.Review construction drawings, RFIs, submittals, and installation plans to support accurate field execution.Escalate design conflicts, installation challenges, or constructability issues to project leadership.

Quality Assurance & Installation Verification

Verify electrical installations comply with design intent, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.Monitor contractor QA/QC processes and validate installation readiness prior to energization.Track field issues, deficiencies, and punch list items to ensure timely resolution.Support inspection and testing requirements for electrical infrastructure systems.Ensure installation practices support maintainability, accessibility, and operational reliability.

Commissioning Readiness & Systems Integration

Coordinate closely with commissioning teams to prepare electrical systems for startup and testing.Support L1–L3 commissioning activities including equipment verification, installation inspections, and documentation review.Assist with preparation for equipment energization, functional testing, and integrated systems testing.Ensure electrical systems are installed in accordance with commissioning requirements and operational standards.

Documentation & Field Reporting

Maintain accurate field reports, installation records, inspection logs, and issue tracking documentation.Provide updates to construction leadership regarding electrical installation progress and contractor performance.Support construction management reporting including schedule updates, quality observations, and risk identification.Assist with document control processes related to electrical construction activities.

Technology, Digital Tools & AI-Enabled Efficiency

Identify opportunities and lead the strategic use of technology, digital platforms, and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency through workflow automation, reduced manual effort, and improved accuracy in forecasting, documentation, reporting, and quality processes.Support adoption of emerging technologies - including advanced analytics, data visualization tools, and digital construction management platforms - to strengthen readiness, quality assurance, and project controls.Collaborate with internal teams to ensure technology solutions align with DLB standards for data security, privacy, and operational integrity.Promote a culture that embraces innovation, continuous improvement, and the strategic use of technology to optimize performance and scalability.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (INTERMEDIATE level for all the following)

Strong working knowledge of electrical infrastructure systems used in hyperscale data centers including medium voltage distribution, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, and power distribution.Knowledge of electrical installation methods, materials, and equipment used in mission-critical construction environments.Knowledge of commissioning readiness processes for electrical systems in complex facilities.Knowledge of industry construction procedures, safety requirements, and best practices.Knowledge of the importance of the Method of Procedure (MOP) process and work notifications within operational environments.Understanding of NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and mission-critical electrical safety practices including NFPA 70E and LOTO.Skilled in coordinating electrical construction activities across multiple contractors and trades.Skilled in identifying installation conflicts and supporting field resolution.Skilled in reviewing construction drawings, electrical one-lines, and technical documentation.Skilled in documenting construction progress, field observations, and installation issues.Skilled at using construction management platforms and documentation tools such as Procore, BIM 360/ACC, or similar systems.Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with strong organizational skills.Ability to communicate clearly with contractors, engineers, commissioning teams, and client stakeholders.Ability to analyze field conditions and escalate technical issues appropriately.Ability to work independently while supporting broader project leadership.Ability to work under pressure and maintain schedule discipline in fast-paced construction environments.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCEAssociate or Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or related disciplineORFive years of hands-on electrical installation, testing, commissioning, or field supervision experience involving mission-critical infrastructure or commercial electrical systemsPLUSMinimum of five years of additional related construction or field supervision experience, preferably within data center or mission-critical environments.
