Position Title: Driver

Department: Life Enrichment

Supervised By: Activities Director (Life Enrichment Director)

Location: Santee, Ca

Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Compensation: $18.50-$20.50/hour DOE

Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm – Hours may vary depending on need

General Statement of Responsibilities:

The Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and high-quality transportation services for residents while supporting community operations. This role ensures all transportation activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and company standards, while delivering a welcoming, service-oriented experience that enhances resident engagement and satisfaction. In addition to transportation duties, this position supports life enrichment programming, resident activities, and light operational tasks, contributing to a well-coordinated and positive community environment.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Safelyoperatecommunity vehicles for scheduled outings, medical appointments, andspecial events.
  1. Assistresidents with boarding and exiting vehicles, including use of wheelchair lifts and mobility equipment.
  1. Ensure residents are transported with dignity, comfort, and safety at all times.
  1. Maintaincompliance with all federal, state, and local driving regulations.
  1. Monitorresident well-being during transport and report any observed changes in conditionimmediately.
  1. Perform daily and weekly vehicle safety inspections.
  1. Maintain documentation of inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  1. Ensure vehicles have current registration and insurance.
  1. Coordinate maintenance and repairs.
  1. Maintainfuel levels and cleanliness of vehicles.
  1. Support outings, events, and activities.
  1. Assistwith resident supervision and participation.
  1. Provide a positive and engaging experience.
  1. Assistwithsetupandbreakdownof events.
  1. Transport residents within the community as needed.
  1. Provide friendly and supportive interaction with residents.
  1. Transport residents to and fromoff siteactivitiessafely withuseof company vehicles.
  1. Follow safety guidelines and infection control practices.
  1. Report any resident concerns or incidents to the Coordinator or Director.
  1. Follow all applicable California Title 22 RCFE regulations.
  1. Work closely with care staff, dining services, and other departments to support resident well-being.
  1. Communicate with residents and familiesregardingprograms.
  1. Support community marketing efforts through interactions with tours, engaging prospects, attending events toshowcaseLife Enrichment departmentinitiatives.
  1. Maintain current knowledge of senior living, assisted living, and dementia-specific care through ongoing education.
  1. Worka flexible schedule as needed to supportevents, tours, and community outreach.
  1. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in senior living, recreation, hospitality, childcare, or customer service preferred. Knowledge of California Title 22 regulations preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:

A valid driver’s license and clean MVR required with application submission and must be maintained throughout employment.

Applicants must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness.  Must be responsible and able to exercise good judgment, accept administrative supervision, pay attention to detail, follow instructions, including the ability to interact effectively and communicate with people in a professional and courteous manner.  Must be highly confidential and work as a team with other staff.  Applicants should be sensitive to clients’ needs.

Skills:

Ability to work with elderly residents, including those with dementia. Strong team building, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective peer relationships with coworkers within the Department, community-wide, and the public. Must be able to express ideas clearly, concisely, address audiences effectively, and exercise balanced judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Willing to be part of a team and cooperate in accomplishing department goals and objectives. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, take initiative, be proactive, and function in a rapidly changing environment. Ability to work with people of all social and ethnic backgrounds, resolve conflicts, negotiate situations, and facilitate consensus.  

Physical and Personal Requirements:

Normal office environment. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Reach, bend, climb, stoop, lift up to 25 lbs. Repetitive hand movement; use and view PC. Ability to assist with activity setup and accompany residents on outings. Reliable transportation and car insurance as required by the state. Travel as needed.

Compliance:

Each employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all Lantern Crest policies and procedures. One must have the ability to understand the implications and complexities of all compliance policies. Participation in all compliance training is mandatory and generally has a heightened awareness of policies and regulations that are specific to one’s department and position. All Lantern Crest employees are expected to report violations or suspected violations of compliance policies or regulations. 

Other:

Applicants must successfully pass a pre-screening tuberculin skin test or x-ray and a urine drug screen test. Candidates will be required to undergo a physical to ensure health is adequate to perform all duties of the position. Applicants must complete application and authorization form, both must be submitted to Human Resources prior to the close date indicated. Applicants will be required to undergo a background check consisting of fingerprinting and criminal records check with DOJ and FBI.
