Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric (Billable, Professional Services)

Position Overview
CBTS is seeking a Data Engineer with Microsoft Fabric expertise to support client‑facing analytics, data platform modernization, and AI initiatives. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, secure, and production‑ready data pipelines using Microsoft Fabric as a core platform.
This is a billable, professional services role. The ideal candidate combines strong technical execution with the ability to work directly with clients, contribute to delivery excellence, and support CBTS’s Microsoft partnership requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain end‑to‑end data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage using Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Pipelines, Warehouses, Notebooks).
- Build scalable ETL/ELT solutions that support analytics, reporting, and AI/ML workloads.
- Implement data modeling patterns (e.g., medallion architecture, dimensional models) aligned to analytics and reporting needs.
- Ensure data quality, reliability, security, and governance across all stages of the data lifecycle.
- Collaborate with analytics engineers, data scientists, and AI engineers to enable production‑ready downstream use cases.
- Support client engagements through technical discovery, solution implementation, and knowledge transfer.
- Participate in delivery governance activities including estimation, documentation, and solution handoff.
- Track and report billable time accurately in accordance with professional services requirements.
- Contribute to reusable accelerators, standards, and best practices across the Data & AI practice.
Required Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP600, DP700‑)
or willingness to obtain certification within a defined onboarding period. - 3–5+ years of hands‑on experience in data engineering or analytics engineering roles.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Hands‑on experience with modern data engineering frameworks and tools (e.g., Spark, notebooks, orchestration pipelines).
- Experience designing and operating cloud‑based data platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred).
- Solid understanding of data governance, security, access control, and performance optimization.
- Ability to work effectively in a client‑facing, delivery‑oriented environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional Microsoft certifications (Azure Data Engineer, Power BI, or related).
- Experience with real‑time or streaming data use cases.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data platforms.
- Experience supporting AI/ML workloads or analytics at scale.
- Consulting or professional services background.

The pay range for this role is:
65,000 - 110,000 USD per year(USA)
