Job Summary:
As part of UCS Healthcare, team members will follow all laws and regulations, including those at the Federal, State, and Local level. They will also adhere to all UCS policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality, HIPAA/ 42CFR part 2, and all CARF requirements. All team members will operate in alignment with UCS Healthcare’s core values, work effectively in a team environment, provide or support patient-centered services, and strive to assist UCS Healthcare in delivering the highest level of care.
Reports To: Patient Services Supervisor
Patient Interaction and Assistance
Warmly greet patients and visitors, providing a professional and compassionate first point of contact.Efficiently handle inquiries, provide information, andoffer assistance topatients and visitors both in person and via telephone.Engage patients and team members with check-in procedures, ensuringaccuratecollection andupdating ofpatient information into an EHR system.Complete daily walk-in/telephone intakes.Handle administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, filing, and managing correspondence.Insurance Verification and Benefit Eligibility
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility for servicesrendered.Explain insurance coverage details and financial responsibilities to patients.Departmental Communication and Support
Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure seamless patient services.Respond to inquiries from various departments within the clinic promptly and professionally.Complete and apply training tomaintainand enhance knowledge of clinic policies, procedures, and relevant software.Attend departmental meetings to stay informed about updates, changes, and improvements.Other Functions: (15%)
Balancing and finalizing the cash sheet daily.Assistingin departmental projects as needed.Complete required trainingin a timely mannerOther duties as assignedMinimum Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
Proven experience in a customer service or patient-facing role, preferably in a healthcare setting.Strong communicationskills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on active listening and empathy.Ability to use de-escalation skills in resolving conflict when necessary.Ability to work both independently and with a team.Preferred Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
Associate degree is preferred. Prior experience with insurance verification processes and understanding of healthcare billing procedures. Knowledge of compliance regulations such as HIPAA.Familiarity with medical billing, Microsoft Office Suite Software and Teams.Physical Requirements:
Must be accessible by phone or email regularly to address operational needsCommunicating with others to exchange information. Full-time 40 Hours a week. Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; Occasional Saturday opportunities. A shift pay differential currently applies to all Saturday shifts for this position.
