The Vice President of Human Resources (VPHR) will serve as a key strategic partner to the Executive Leadership Team. This leader will design and execute a forward-looking people strategy aligned with K2’s growth objectives, operational priorities, and value creation plan. This role requires a business-oriented HR leader, ideally with experience scaling multi-site healthcare or services organizations within a private equity-backed environment. The VPHR will lead organizational design, talent strategy, culture development, performance systems, total rewards, HR infrastructure, and compliance across the enterprise.

Success in this role requires balancing compassion and culture with accountability, performance rigor, and measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Leadership & Enterprise Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team on organizational design, workforce strategy, and talent-related business risks and opportunities.
  • Translate enterprise growth strategy into actionable people initiatives that support operational scale, margin expansion, and long-term value creation.
  • Support board-level reporting, workforce analytics, and strategic planning.
  • Lead enterprise-wide change management initiatives tied to expansion, transformation, and operational optimization.

2. Organizational Design & Workforce Planning

  • Design and evolve organizational structures to support multi-site growth and clinical operational excellence.
  • Drive workforce planning aligned with revenue growth, site expansion, and productivity targets.
  • Build succession planning frameworks and leadership bench strength across clinical and operational roles.
  • Standardize people practices acrosslocationswhile maintaining local site effectiveness.

3. Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand

  • Lead scalable talent acquisition strategies to attract high-caliber clinical, operational, and leadership talent.
  • Strengthen employer branding to position K2 as an employer of choice within the clinical research industry.
  • Enhance candidate experience while maintaining hiring discipline and workforce cost controls.

4. Culture, Engagement & Leadership Development

  • Champion a high-performance, patient-first culture grounded in accountability, empathy, and collaboration.
  • Implement measurable employee engagement strategies with clear KPIs and year-over-year improvement goals.
  • Oversee leadership development programs, coaching frameworks, and manager capability building.
  • Embed consistent performance expectations and feedback processes across the organization.

5. Performance Management & Total Rewards Strategy

  • Design and oversee performance management systems aligned with operational metrics and company performance goals.
  • Lead total rewards strategy, including compensation benchmarking, incentive design, and benefits optimization.
  • Evolve annual merit processes toensureinternal equity and market competitiveness while maintaining cost discipline.
  • Support executive compensation planning, including performance-based and long-term incentive structures.

6. HR Operations, Infrastructure & Analytics

  • Build scalable HR infrastructure, policies, and systems to support rapid growth.
  • Optimize HRIS systems and leverage workforce analytics to drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Establish HR KPIs and dashboards aligned with business outcomes.
  • Ensure operational efficiency, process consistency, and service excellence across HR functions.

7. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws across multi-state operations.
  • Strengthen policy frameworks and risk mitigation strategies in partnership with legal and operations leadership.
  • Support a regulated healthcare environment with appropriate employment practices and documentation standards.

8. Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the HR team, fostering a high-performance and service-oriented function.
  • Set clear goals, performance expectations, and development pathways for HRteam.
  • Build HR capabilities appropriate for a scaling organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including senior-level HR strategy development.
  • Collaborative, values-based leadership style with a track record of developing high-performing HR teams and building strong cross-functional partnerships.
  • Experience in healthcare services, clinical research, biotech, or other regulated industries preferred.
  • Experience in a private equity-backed or high-growth services organization highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success scaling multi-site organizations and building HR infrastructure during periods of growth.
  • Experience supporting organizational design, change management, and workforce transformation initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in compensation strategy, performance management systems, and incentive design.
  • Working knowledge of multi-state employment law and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience optimizing HRIS systems and leveraging workforce analytics.
  • Proven ability to influence at executive and board levels.
  • SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent experience preferred.
