Lab Assistant at Gift of Life Marrow Registry Inc – BOCA RATON, Florida

Summary Statement

The Laboratory Assistant will be working under the Medical Technical Director. The Laboratory Assistant will work with our laboratory team to process samples, perform tests, and record and analyze results.

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, processes and stores specimens
• Performs Cellular therapy product labeling
• Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
• Accepts, verifies, processes and transfers cellular therapy products
• Fulfills administrative duties as requested such as answering phones, data entry and document filing
• Cleaning, maintaining and disinfection of selected or assigned laboratory equipment and spaces
• Performs materials management duties, such as maintaining supply inventory and receiving supplies.
• Performs other registries/departmental projects as necessary
• Follow all Standard Operating procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Previous lab experience is preferred
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
• Able to safely handle biological specimens, chemicals and other hazardous materials to which they may be exposed to.
• Basic Computer knowledge and data entry skills
• Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to read and comprehend written procedures and instructions.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts if needed.
