About This Position
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead environmental compliance and safety programs across multiple operational facilities. This role places a strong emphasis on NCDEQ environmental compliance, stormwater management, SWPPP programs, and structured regulatory documentation.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, knowledgeable about North Carolina environmental regulations, and comfortable supporting field operations in an industrial or construction-related environment.
This position supports Raleigh Concrete and our sister companies across sites in Raleigh, Durham, and Wilmington.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Compliance (Primary Focus)
- Administer and maintain Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP).
- Conduct and document routine stormwater inspections per NCDEQ requirements.
- Coordinate stormwater sampling, lab testing, and Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs).
- Investigate and document permit exceedances (e.g., TSS levels) and ensure corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate environmental records, reports, and regulatory documentation.
- Serve as the primary internal contact for NCDEQ matters and oversee compliance with industrial stormwater permits.
- Maintain and update Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.
- Implement spill response procedures and ensure proper storage and labeling of fuels, oils, and chemicals.
- Conduct routine environmental compliance audits across operational sites.
- Identify risks, track corrective actions, and maintain compliance documentation.
- Develop SOPs, inspection checklists, reporting templates, and regulatory calendars.
- Coordinate with environmental consultants and labs.
- Maintain OSHA safety programs and documentation.
- Perform periodic safety inspections and support incident investigations.
- Assist with safety training and continuous improvement of workplace safety practices.
- Provide environmental and spill-response training to operational teams.
- Support field operations in implementing compliance processes and best practices.
- Track and report compliance KPIs, including:
- SWPPP inspections
- Stormwater sampling
- Exceedances
- Spill incidents
- Corrective action completion

Qualifications
Required:
- Experience with environmental compliance programs
- Knowledge of NCDEQ stormwater regulations
- Strong documentation, organization, and inspection skills
- Ability to manage regulatory reporting and interact with inspectors
- Experience building compliance processes or structured programs
Preferred:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- Industrial, construction materials, concrete, or aggregates experience
- OSHA training/certification
- SWPPP and stormwater sampling experience
