About This Position

Family First Adolescent Services is a behavioral health treatment center located in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, dedicated to helping adolescent boys (ages 12–18) and their families heal, grow, and reconnect.


Since its founding in 2014, Family First has served as a trusted resource for families navigating complex mental health, behavioral, and substance use challenges. With a trauma-informed, evidence-based approach, we create personalized treatment plans that address both the surface behaviors and deeper root causes affecting each teen.

Our comprehensive care model includes:

  • Individual, group, and family therapy, using evidence-based methodologies such as CBT, DBT, and EMDR.
  • Academic support, ensuring teens stay on track with their education or career readiness while in treatment.
  • Experiential and holistic therapies, including adventure therapy, equine work, CrossFit, and outdoor activities that promote physical, mental, and emotional wellness.
  • Continuing care and alumni support, offering follow-up for up to 12 months post-discharge to help maintain progress and resilience.
  • Ongoing family engagement, focusing on healing the family system and equipping parents with tools and insights to support lasting change.All programming is delivered in safe, home-like residential settings in Palm Beach Gardens, designed to foster community, comfort, and focused healing.

Job Description:

Family First Adolescent Services is expanding and we are looking to add an Academic Coordinator to our Education team.

As an Academic Coordinator, you will be working with compassionate and motivated members of our interdisciplinary treatment team to support our adolescent clients in achieving their academic goals while in our residential program. Our clients present with a variety of mental health, substance use, and behavioral disorders.

As an Academic Coordinator, there will not be any lesson planning, you will be connecting with the academic institutions clients are coming from to carry forward their academic plan while in our care. Responsibilities include facilitating independent study class time for 2.5 hours Monday - Friday, corresponding with client's family members regarding progress, and working collaboratively with the treatment team to best support academic progress and if needed, academic intervention.

Clients bring their own curriculum to our program, and we support them to progress with their assignments remotely, while in our residential program for 45-90 days.

This position is ideal for individuals interested in a supportive and nurturing treatment setting. This position is Monday through Friday 8 AM - 4 PM

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with staff to ensure safety of students at all times.
  • Develop and coordinate realistic academic plans for students.
  • Assisting students with achieving their academic goals.
  • Provide direct support to students relating both to academics and behavioral needs.
  • Provide updates to families and academic institutes.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team relating to progress and wellbeing of students.

Academic Coordinators must:

- Be able to pass a background check

- Have experience relating to teaching/tutoring

- Skilled in professional email communication

- Possess qualities of patience, compassion, and interest in working in a behavioral health setting.
