Assistant Controller-Accounting & Compliance
Position Summary
The Assistant Controller (Audit) supports the Accounts Payable Manager and CFO in managing the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, and audit processes. This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with accounting standards, strengthening internal controls, and coordinating both internal and external audits. This is a PART TIME position with the potential to expand to full-time based on business needs and candidate performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Coordinate and manage external and internal audit processes
- Ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Maintain and improve internal control systems and accounting procedures
- Prepare audit schedules, documentation, and supporting reports
- Process accounts payable including entering invoices into Quickbooks Online and managing payment schedules.
- Preform monthly bank reconciliation and other reconciliations as needed.
- Act as primary liaison with external auditors
- Review general ledger entries and account reconciliations. Create and post journal entries into QuickBooks for adjustments, accruals, and corrections in support of the monthly close.
- Support implementation of accounting systems and process improvements
- Assist with reconciling insurance payments and patient accounts
- Assist with managing vendor relationships and coordinating with medical suppliers
Qualifications
- Associates degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
- 2-3 years of progressive accounting/audit experience preferrable in healthcare or medical settings.
- Hands on experience entering invoices into QuickBooks and processing payments.
- Proven ability to perform bank reconciliations.
- Strong knowledge of cash to accrual accounting, audit procedures and financial reporting
- Experience working with external auditors
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Teams, sharepoint, etc.) and QuickBooks.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Other duties as needed for day to day business operations

Working Conditions and physical requirements
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work). Sedentary work: ability to sit for extended periods of time while working on computer tasks. Position requires reaching, grasping, repetitive motion, typing, talking, hearing, clear vision for detailed financial work and computer screen reading. Office-based with potential for hybrid work with occasional extended hours during audit periods or fiscal year-end.
