Material Manager at Heidtman Steel Products Inc. – Erie, Michigan

Heidtman Steel Products is looking for a Materials Managers to join our Resource Planning team at our Bedford location in Erie, MI. The effective material manager plans production to meet the quality, margin, and delivery goals the company sets to provide world- class customer service.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Combining sales orders and inventory into production orders while ensuring physical and chemical properties are met; entering production orders into ERP system.
• Responding to inquiries and status checks from inside sales department, house accounts or service centers/brokers.
• Monthly steel purchases- deciding where, when, and how much to buy; monitoring status of inbound material.
• Inventory management- resolving hold statuses, addressing aged and obsolete inventory (working with the secondary/scrap manager as needed).
• Frequent communication with Sales, Purchasing, Scheduling, Quality, and Logistics departments to satisfy customer expectations.

• Minimum three (3) years of Steel Industry experience is required
• Experience in sales and/or production experience preferred.
• College degree or equivalent job experience required; Supply Chain background a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong math abilities.
• Tech savvy with strong knowledge of entire Microsoft suite.
• Attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
