Position Statement

The ER Unit clerk is responsible for administrative support for the multi-disciplinary team and assists with communication between healthcare partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcomes patient’s families and visitors. Assists them with wayfinding with general hospital and/or unit questions.
• Answers the telephone and directs calls to appropriate parties.
• Coordinates frequently with other North Country Hospital departments to facilitate patient care and unit functioning.
• Communicates with external partners to connect healthcare providers in planning patient care and transfers.
• Creates and maintains portions of patient charts (both physical and electronic patient records).
• Performs scanning, copying, and faxing as needed.
• Strives to improve the quality of patient care through personal development and unit projects.
• Collaborates with teammates to promote and preserve a positive work-place culture.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Current BLS certification required. Classes and certification offered by Employer.
• Maintains current AVADE certification. Classes and certification offered by Employer.
