About This Position

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for scheduling and directing the Maintenance Technicians; trains and provides work direction and guidance while performing work duties in a variety of different areas such as repairing production equipment and tools and maintaining the buildings and grounds. Coordinates third-party contractor visits and audits when necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures adherence to OSHA, health, and other compliance standards and regulations.
  • Co-chairs Safety Committee and safety initiatives throughout the plants.
  • Champions environmental conformance adherence as well as hazardous material programs.
  • Schedules and directs the Maintenance department on tasks and assigns them to team members for completion.
  • Inspects machinery regularly, identifying risks and opportunities, and safety issues.
  • Provides skilled mechanical and electrical support to all areas of manufacturing.
  • Locates sources of problems by observing equipment and machinery in operations; diagnoses and finds root causes in machine/equipment failures. Conducts troubleshooting when needed on equipment and machines to repair maintenance issues.
  • Maintains machinery and equipment by creating a robust preventive maintenance program. Ensures team members adhere to PM program.
  • Inspects and maintains building systems; oversees facilities; maintains all aspects of appearance and functions of the buildings and grounds.
  • Responsible for proper preparation of capital expenditures (cap-ex) requests.
  • Installs, repairs, troubleshoots and sets up industrial process controls and pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment.
  • Order parts and materials needed to complete work; specify with Purchasing and/or vendors to obtain correct items.
  • Conducts proper follow-through on all maintenance issues.
  • Use a computer to access emails and the internet to order parts and materials.
  • Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and requirements, as well as Jor-Mac company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand detailed blueprints, mechanical drawings, and symbols, assembly drawings, elementary electrical schematics, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
  • Familiar with machine lubrication, continuous improvement of machine PM’s and maintenance lubrication practices.
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Effectively present information and respond to all questions.
  • Possesses strong organization skills, with the ability to effectively handle multiple open projects.
  • Ability to operate various tools and equipment including, but not limited to: hand and power tools, metal fabrication equipment, welding equipment, and a variety of measuring equipment.
  • Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos. Ability to prepare timesheets and job-related paperwork. Ability to effectively communicate with other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; occasionally required to sit and talk; frequently required to hear, walk, and continuously stand and reach with hands and arms. The employee will frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Continuously exposed to manufacturing noise.
