Outdoor Grounds Specialist at Germantown Cricket Club – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Groundskeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for maintaining outdoor spaces and ensuring they are aesthetically pleasing and functional. This role involves a variety of tasks related to landscape maintenance, lawn care, and the overall upkeep of grounds. The Groundskeeper will work with both hand tools and power tools to perform essential landscaping functions.

Duties
- Perform regular lawn care activities including mowing, edging, and fertilizing.
- Maintain gardens by planting, watering, weeding, and pruning of grounds.
- Operate and maintain power tools and hand tools used in groundskeeping tasks.
- Irrigate landscapes effectively to ensure healthy growth.
- Conduct landscape maintenance duties such as mulching, trimming shrubs, and maintaining flower beds.
- Monitor the condition of the grounds and report any issues or needed repairs.
- Ensure all areas are clean and free of debris to promote a safe environment.
- Collaborate with team members to complete larger landscaping projects.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of gardening techniques and landscape design principles is a plus.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and their maintenance is beneficial.
- Ability to operate various power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality work.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

• Experience working in a country club, golf course, or sports facility
• Knowledge of athletic field or cricket pitch maintenance
• Valid driver’s license
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, facilities maintenance, or outdoor operations preferred
• Ability to operate landscaping and maintenance equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.) safely and efficiently
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high-quality outdoor spaces
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
• Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and during club events as needed
• Basic knowledge of turf care, irrigation systems, and seasonal maintenance is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
• Ability to follow safety procedures and club standards at all times
