About This Position
Educational Diagnostician - Bilingual (Shared Service Partnership)
Reports To Director of Clinical Services and Campus/District Special Education Administration.
Primary Purpose Conduct comprehensive educational evaluations in both English and Spanish to determine eligibility for special education services in accordance with IDEA, Texas Education Code, and district policies. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure linguistically and culturally appropriate practices that support student success and legal compliance.
Qualifications Education/Certification - Master's degree in Special Education or related field - Valid Texas certification as an Educational Diagnostician - Valid Texas teaching certificate preferred - Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency required - Must meet all TEA requirements for serving as a Diagnostician.
Special Knowledge/Skills - Deep understanding of bilingual assessment practices and cultural-linguistic considerations - Strong knowledge of IDEA, FIE requirements, and ARD/IEP processes - Ability to conduct evaluations in Spanish and communicate effectively with Spanish-speaking families - Excellent communication, collaboration, and report-writing skills - Proficiency in digital tools, secure platforms, and FERPA-compliant systems.
Experience- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience preferred - Experience working with bilingual or emergent bilingual student populations required - Prior experience as a Diagnostician in a school setting strongly preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties Assessment and Evaluation - Conduct Full and Individual Evaluations (FIEs) using linguistically appropriate tools - Administer and interpret assessments in both English and Spanish - Prepare culturally responsive and legally defensible reports - Present findings and recommendations at ARD meetings with language-concordant communication.
Compliance and Documentation - Ensure evaluations meet federal and state timelines - Document bilingual eligibility decisions accurately and in accordance with state guidance - Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of student records. Collaboration and Consultation - Participate in ARD, LPAC, and multidisciplinary team meetings - Collaborate with educators and service providers to interpret language acquisition versus disability - Communicate effectively with families in Spanish and provide appropriate translation of assessment results.
Working Conditions - Remote or on-site based on district needs and student language requirements - Confidential workspace required for virtual service delivery - Flexible schedule based on evaluation and ARD deadlines - Travel to campuses may be required for in-person bilingual evaluations.
