Winchester Cardiology and Vascular Medicine is the leading cardiology practice dedicated to delivering exceptional, patient-centered cardiovascular care across the Shenandoah Valley. We are seeking a motivated and skilled Nurse Practitioner to join the Electrophysiology (EP) department of our highly collaborative outpatient cardiology practice seamlessly connected to Winchester Medical Center.

This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive electrophysiology-focused cardiovascular care across both inpatient and outpatient settings while working alongside a specialized EP care team. The Electrophysiology department currently includes three Electrophysiologists and three EP Advanced Practice Clinicians, providing care for patients with complex cardiac rhythm disorders. The EP Nurse Practitioner will be actively involved in the evaluation, management, and longitudinal care of patients with arrhythmias, including those undergoing pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) implantation and management, catheter ablation procedures, implantable loop recorder placement and monitoring, and left atrial appendage closure procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the outpatient cardiology clinic, including evaluation, follow-up visits, and ongoing management of cardiac conditions.
  • Conduct inpatient rounding on cardiology patients in collaboration with the supervising electrophysiologist.
  • Provide pre- and post-procedural care and education for patients undergoing pacemaker or ICD implantation, ablation, LAAO implant, lead extraction, and cardioversion.
  • Respond to patient messages, phone calls, and clinical inquiries through EPIC and other communication channels, providing timely assessment and coordination of care.
  • Document all patient encounters in accordance with CMS and practice standards, including comprehensive note writing, test result review, follow-up communication, and obtaining informed consents when appropriate.
  • Assist with inpatient discharges, including patient education, medication reconciliation, discharge orders, and coordination of follow-up care.
  • Review and interpret electrocardiograms (EKGs) and communicate findings to the care team as appropriate.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, and ancillary teams to ensure continuity and quality of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

Schedule

  • Weekday schedule only (Monday – Friday) with options of (4) 10-hour shifts or (5) 8-hour shifts per week
  • No weekends
  • No evening/night call or weekend call
  • Select holidays are scheduled off and paid

Qualifications

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Eligible for or currently hold an active Nurse Practitioner Virginia License.
  • Strong understanding of EP procedures and CMS documentation standards.
  • Experience in Cardiology or Electrophysiology preferred.
  • New graduates with strong cardiology rotation experience may be considered.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods (Up to 10 hours)
