Role Summary:

The Renewable Market Associate is responsible for, in partnership with internal team members, the analysis of Great River Hydro’s renewable energy and associated products in the New England marketplace to support the optimization of GRH’s fleet. We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly motivated candidate with a strong understanding of the energy sector, particularly renewable energy, and a passion for analyzing market data to drive strategic decision-making. This role will focus on gathering, interpreting, and presenting data on energy markets in New England, with an emphasis on market and demand trends, policy impacts, and future growth opportunities. The Renewable Market Associate will conduct market research to assess trends, risks, and opportunities in the Northeast energy markets.

This role travels as needed to company offices and facilities located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Limited overnight and out-of-the-region travel could be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides analytical support of market and asset information to facilitate the Marketing Team’s strategic decision-making in market optimization.
  • Supports Marketing Team in forecasting generation and revenue for internal stakeholders;
  • Conducts in-depth research on energy markets, ancillary services, and renewable energy credits of current and emerging technologies within the New England Region;
  • Reviews generation for accuracy on a daily basis;
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, to provide market intelligence to assist with strategic decision making;
  • Supports bid submissions and scheduling of assets, alongside internal team members;
  • Ability to be on call every third weekend for marketing support responsibilities once fully ramped up;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Energy Economics, Business, Environmental Science, Communications or related discipline preferred, additional experience required in lieu of degree;
  • Must be an excel wizard;
  • 2-4 years prior market analysis - experience in the New England Energy Market are a strong plus;
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and give attention to detail;
  • Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to work independently yet collaboratively while keeping key stakeholders informed;
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment; prioritize tasks and maintain efficiency; and identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Strong working knowledge of bulk electric systems, ISO and NEPOOL GIS a PLUS;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective communication and listening skills;
  • Ability to travel as needed throughout MA, NH, VT;
  • Strong time-management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and juggle multiple projects; and
  • Strong PC skills, including MS Office with an emphasis on SharePoint.

Salary Range: $67,000-$85,000 + bonus (BOE)
