The Capital Management Trader is as a key member of the asset management team and manages all aspects of securities trading, along with portfolio operations with an emphasis on managing the on-boarding and transitioning of key accounts. This professional works in the corporate home office and directly supports the management of proprietary investment strategies and custom client solutions. The Capital Management Trader is as a key member of the asset management team and manages all aspects of securities trading, along with portfolio operations with an emphasis on managing the on-boarding and transitioning of key accounts. This professional works in the corporate home office and directly supports the management of proprietary investment strategies and custom client solutions. This position is critical to the efficient management, operations and implementation of client portfolios managed by the portfolio management team.
Essential responsibilities and tasks of the Capital Management Trader are:
- Full life cycle trade responsibilities: build, pre-trade analysis, execution, post-trade analysis, allocations and settlement across multiple strategies, brokers and custodians; Ensure all trades settle correctly and resolve any discrepancies
- Proficient in the use of order management systems, trading strategies and best execution standards
- Ensure all trading activities follow best execution policies. Perform analysis including broker due diligence, broker evaluation, execution measurement, performance tracking and trading record keeping
- Model management: proprietary equity and asset allocation modeling based on asset allocation framework while managing all workflow within Orion as well as Salesforce to ensure model assignments, and completion of trades as needed
- Manage and maintain soft dollar balances, bills and relationship with executing brokers to capture all trading activity and reduce overall expenses paid by “hard dollars”; Manage commission budget and commissions paid to various third-party broker dealers
- Assist the portfolio managers during rebalancing/allocation and act as central resource for investment houses to send their research to PM’s. Compile research as needed and leverage relationships to obtain research reports
- Create, implement and maintain procedures and documentation for trading/operations best practices; leverage the use of technology to provide efficiencies in all areas of the trade/reconciliation process
- Run analysis, monitor tax consequences and ensure an error free implementation process while transitioning multi-million-dollar portfolios into LFCM
- Manage the GIPS verification process, including model assignments and changes, closing of accounts and working with various custodians/regulators to ensure all data is correct
- Work on firm-wide special projects related to operational efficiencies and process improvements
- Interface with the Advisory Service Operations team in day-to-day processes relating to new account on-boarding to ensure all is in good order before trading
- Additional duties as required
Required
- At least 5-10 years equity trading experience and knowledge of trading systems
- Prior experience in a financial services office/broker-dealer
- Knowledge of equity and fixed income markets as well as securities
- Strong attention to detail
- Self-driven with strong organizational skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Knowledge with

- Trading platforms OMS or EMS (Black Diamond, EMSX, Realtick, Eze Software)
- Bachelor’s Degree
- General computer and software knowledge:
