Wirer II

Summary

The Wiring Technician II plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by assembling, installing, and maintaining electrical wiring systems that ensure the proper functioning of machinery and equipment. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and safety protocols to deliver high-quality workmanship. The technician will collaborate closely with the Production Manager, Lead Technician, Engineering, and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve wiring issues, minimizing downtime and maintaining production efficiency. The Wirer II also takes an active role in mentoring and training Wirer I team members. Attention to detail and adherence to industry standards are essential to guarantee the reliability and safety of all electrical components and to support the company’s commitment to quality and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and follow electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to assemble and install wiring systems.
  • Drill holes, assemble pipe fittings, strip cables, and run new wires.
  • Test run Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs) upon satisfactory completion of wiring.
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of wiring assemblies to identify and correct faults or defects.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and Staff Electrician to ensure all VRU shipments are adequately prepared and all necessary documentation has been completed by the Production Planner.
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to modify wiring layouts and implement improvements.
  • Take an active role in the training and mentoring of Wirer I team members.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during installation and maintenance activities.
  • Document work performed, including wiring configurations, repairs, and maintenance records for quality control and auditing purposes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area and associated equipment.
  • Complete all work in a neat and safe manner in compliance with company policies.
  • Present a clean, neat, and professional appearance; wear company uniform (if provided) in its entirety.
  • Engage in the company’s vision and seek to implement processes and goals aligned with company direction.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical wiring or a related manufacturing environment required.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety standards and best practices.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification or diploma in electrical technology or a related field.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment wiring.
  • Familiarity with PLC wiring and control systems.
  • Previous mechanical experience is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of quality management systems such as ISO standards.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
