About This Position
Under general supervision, performs duties relating to the operation of the City's water wells and distribution system, which includes collecting data, testing water, monitoring systems, etc.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Flushes water from hydrants and individual meters, as a preventive measure or in response to customer complaints.
Collects data and samples from wells and County meters.
Monitors the City's active well system, which includes measuring the water level, conducting water tests and managing proper chlorine supply.
Performs general clerical duties such as performing record keeping duties, preparing reports and completing paperwork.
Performs general clerical duties such as performing record keeping duties, preparing reports, and completing paperwork.
Performs vehicle maintenance as necessary.
Utilizes a self-contained breathing apparatus.
Receives, records, completes, files and/or submits various reports and records such as data collection records, chlorine residual log, water produced and purchased reports, various charts and general office correspondence.
Utilizes a variety of equipment and machinery including vehicle, calculator, chlorinator, hydrant wrench, various keys, various kits, diffusers and hoses, and general office supplies.
May provide assistance in water repair emergencies through delineation of affected areas, preparing and distributing communication to affected parties, and performing flushing and sampling.
Requires after hours work in case of emergencies, or as determined by Supervisor.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION/MAINTENANCE:
Operates, calibrates and cleans technical field sampling and monitoring equipment. Knowledge of routine laboratory equipment, procedures and cleanliness requirements.
Ability to adjust, operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory, field monitoring and sampling equipment.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES:
Ability to prepare reports and interpret laboratory results.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to perform such labor, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalency required.
EXPERIENCE
One year of experience in water system desirable, or an equivalent combination of education,
training and experience will be considered.
LICENSURE
Valid Florida Drivers License required.
Class "C" State Drinking Water License required within two years of employment.
