The Sales Engineer (SE) is a critical technical resource supporting Regional Sales Managers (RSMs) and the Value-Added Reseller (VAR) channel. The role strengthens the technical capabilities of VAR partners through training, solution design, field support, and hands-on enablement; drives sales growth; ensures successful deployments; and enhances the overall customer and partner experience. The SE focuses on surveillance, access control, cloud, and integrated security solutions and spends approximately 50–60% of time traveling within assigned RSM territories to engage VARs and conduct follow-ups after RSM visits.

Key Responsibilities

1. VAR Engagement & Territory Support

  • Travel throughout assigned RSM territories to support newly onboarded and existing VARs, prioritizing regions recently visited by RSMs.
  • Meet with VAR partners to strengthen adoption of surveillance, access control, cloud, and integrated security solutions; conduct on-site reviews and capability assessments tailored to each VAR's business needs.

2. Training & Technical Enablement

  • Deliver in-person and virtual technical training to VAR sales teams, installation crews, and operations personnel.
  • Provide hands-on walkthroughs of system configuration, installation best practices, product features, and cloud platform functionality.
  • Identify training gaps and develop tailored technical development plans for VAR partners.

3. Pre-Sales Technical Support

  • Support complex opportunities including solution design, system architecture guidance, and bill-of-materials (BOM) validation.
  • Participate in customer-facing discovery calls and technical meetings; clearly communicate product value to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Assist with RFP/tender responses, compliance statements, and formal proposal support.

4. Post-Sales, Installation & Field Support

  • Serve as a technical escalation point for problematic installations or system failures.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting or remote support as needed; coordinate with internal Support for issues requiring deeper investigation.
  • Deliver structured field feedback and improvement recommendations to Product, Engineering, and Support teams.

5. Cloud Services Expertise

  • Provide specialized training and onboarding around cloud platforms and connected services.
  • Assist VARs in transitioning from traditional system sales to cloud-based recurring revenue models.
  • Conduct cloud demos, live walkthroughs, and advanced troubleshooting.

6. Partner Success & Relationship Development

  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with VAR owners, technical managers, project leads, and installers.
  • Maintain consistent communication with key VAR accounts to monitor projects, identify needs, and elevate technical readiness.
  • Support RSMs by surfacing growth opportunities created through improved VAR technical competency.

7. Internal Collaboration, Safety & Compliance

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between customers, VARs, the Sales team, Product, Support, and R&D.
  • Provide product improvement insights based on real-world installation and deployment feedback.
  • Adhere to company safety, compliance, and operational standards.

Qualifications

  • Strongly preferred: Extensive knowledge of 3xLOGIC Vigil VMS and Infinias access control.
  • Experience with surveillance systems, VMS/camera platforms, access control systems, cloud-based services, networking, and system integration.

  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues in real-world field environments.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple partner engagements while maintaining significant travel (≈50–60%).
  • Advanced technical requirements:
  • Networking expertise: TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, firewall rules, and secure network architectures.
  • Advanced troubleshooting across Windows, Linux, virtualized systems, enterprise networks, and cloud-connected solutions.
  • Direct engagement with customer IT and cybersecurity teams to resolve compatibility issues, validate policies, support deployments, and design compliant architectures.
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms, architectures, integrations, API-based workflows, and cloud security models.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals: identity management, MFA, encryption, data protection, threat prevention, and secure deployment best practices.
  • Experience deploying solutions within enterprise environments requiring strict security controls, documentation, and change-management procedures.
