Job Title: Fabrication Support

Position Summary

The Fabrication Support role provides hands-on assistance within the fabrication shop, primarily supporting welders by grinding and finishing steel components after welding. This position also performs a variety of general shop duties and assists with basic operation of shop machinery. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to grow within a manufacturing environment.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

Grinding & Finishing

• Grind, smooth, and clean welded steel parts to meet quality and appearance standards
• Remove slag, sharp edges, and weld spatter using grinders and hand tools
• Prepare surfaces for subsequent fabrication or finishing processes

Shop Support & General Duties

• Assist with material handling, staging, and movement of steel components
• Support fabrication processes as directed by welders or supervisors
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment
• Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements

Machinery & Tool Use

• Assist with basic operation of shop machinery and equipment
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
• Perform routine equipment care and report maintenance concerns

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior fabrication or shop experience helpful but not required
• Entry-level candidates encouraged to apply

Required Skills & Abilities

• Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing / shop environment
• Mechanically inclined with willingness to learn shop processes
• Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Work performed in a fabrication / manufacturing shop environment
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting
• Ability to lift materials and equipment as required
• Exposure to noise, dust, and typical shop conditions
• Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
