ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Debt Capital Markets will be responsible for sourcing new loans, overseeing refinancings, managing lender relationships and reporting, coordinating all aspects of the loan closing process, securing and administering interest-rate derivatives, administering lines of credit, and partnering with external capital markets advisors. This role will work closely with the Ambrose senior and executive leadership teams to support Ambrose’s efforts in achieving execution of financing for acquisition, speculative and build-to-suit industrial and logistics projects.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Source Debt and Manage Ongoing Lender Relationships

  • Generate leads for new lenders and manage current set of 20+ Ambrose lender relationships
  • Interface with Ambrose Deployment and Development Teams, Market Officers and Asset Management to understand projects and borrowing needs
  • Create marketing debt books for circulation to potential lenders
  • Travel to projects to meet with Ambrose teams and lenders for on-site tours and inspections
  • Maintain existing lender relationships through ongoing touchpoints and in-person meetings
  • Prepare Investment Committee Memos and present recommendations to the Executive Leadership Team

Lead Loan Closing Process

  • Manage data rooms for lenders and their advisors and lawyers
  • Manage and monitor loan documentation drafting and negotiations
  • Lead loan closing and checklist calls for both refinancing and new debt facilities

Lead Internal Loan Portfolio Management

  • Lead debt reporting on each Ambrose property and lines of credit
  • Manage Juniper Square database of lenders
  • Manage Chatham Debt Platform for internal reporting/document management
  • Monitor debt capital market conditions and communicate highlights internally
  • Manage ongoing lender construction consultants and advisors
  • Oversee construction draw process
  • Manage ongoing loan compliance which also consists of quarterly and annual lender reporting

Secure and Manage Interest Rate Derivatives

  • Oversee portfolio of interest rate hedging derivatives linked to loans
  • Manage external advisors responsible for pricing and executing trades
  • Manage legal, documentation, and purchasing process for new derivatives

Manage External Advisors

  • Manage debt broker relationships
  • Select debt brokers for projects, negotiate terms, and manage the advisors
  • Attend select conferences, real estate events, and grow the Ambrose brand in the lending community
Requirements:

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Real Estate.
  • Seven plus years of investment banking, commercial real estate lending or capital markets experience.
  • Deep, proven experience in asset-level real estate lending.
  • Proven experience working on complex or time-sensitive situations.
  • Must have a strong analytical background, strong Excel skills and expertise with underwriting and managing others.
  • Must have a high attention to detail and understand the importance of maintaining data quality.
  • Possesses strong time management, client relationships, problem-solving and leadership skills.
  • Must exhibit a great deal of flexibility and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
