About This Position
Summary: Responsible for all Township broadcasting operations, digital content production, website management, social media presence, and public communications across multiple platforms. Manages Montclair's Government Access Channels (TV 34), produces and publishes digital content for the Township's website and blog, creates public service announcements (PSAs), and manages the Township's official social media accounts. The successful candidate will combine traditional broadcast production expertise with modern digital media skills, including content management systems, social media strategy, graphic design, and web publishing. Reports to the Director of Technology and performs related duties as required.Duties: Broadcasting & video production; manages programming aired on Montclair's Government Access Channels (TV 34). • Provides live coverage of public meetings; produces public service announcements (PSAs). • Coordinates and executes all municipally sanctioned video projects. • Manages channel programming lineup, bulletin board content and design, and broadcast scheduling. • Performs troubleshooting, routine maintenance of broadcast facility and equipment, and provides upgrade recommendations. Website & Digital Content Management; manages and updates the Township's official website. • Creates and publishes website content. • Authors and maintains the Township blog. • Uploads and manages on-demand video content, meeting recordings, and multimedia assets on the Township website and streaming platforms. • Monitors website analytics and provides regular reports on traffic, engagement, and content performance. • Coordinates with Township departments to gather content, ensure accuracy, and maintain a consistent editorial voice across all web properties. Social Media & Public Communications; manages the Township's official social media accounts and scheduling content aligned with the Township's communications calendar. • Develops and executes social media strategy. • Creates visual assets for social media distribution using design tools. • Monitors social media channels; supports emergency and crisis communications. • Tracks social media analytics and provides monthly performance reports. Administrative & Cross-Functional; maintains a content calendar coordinating broadcasts, website updates, blog posts, social media campaigns, and PSA schedules. • Manages relationships with external vendors for equipment, software, web hosting, and media services. • Ensures all published content complies with applicable legal requirements. • Archives broadcast and digital content. • Manages equipment and software inventory; stays current with industry trends, emerging platforms, and best practices in government communications and digital media.Requirements: Bachelor's degree in digital media, communications, broadcasting, journalism, marketing or a related field; experience may be considered in lieu of degree. Three (3) years of experience in multimedia production, digital content creation, and/or broadcast operations. Experience managing organizational websites and social media accounts in a professional setting (government experience preferred). Demonstrated experience in video production (pre-production through post), including scripting, shooting, editing, and distribution; experience with government access television (PEG Access), particularly government channel operations, is strongly preferred. Portfolio or work samples demonstrating video production, web content, social media campaigns, and/or graphic design work required. Off-hours availability required for nights, weekends and holidays as situations warrant. Hourly Rate: $24.03 - $34.87. Part-time; not to exceed twenty-eight (28) hours per week. Compensation commensurate with experience.
