Job Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel and gasoline engines, agricultural equipment, compact construction equipment, lawn equipment, UTVs, and trailers. This role requires strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines.
• Diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural equipment, compact construction equipment, lawn equipment, UTVs, and trailers.
• Perform repairs and overhauls on engines and related mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and structural components for a variety of equipment types.
• Perform electrical diagnostics and repairs.
• Perform welding repairs as needed.
• Utilize OEM diagnostic software and programs via laptop to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Clearly explain, when needed, the diagnosis and repair work performed to ensure customer understanding and satisfaction.
• Complete repairs within established flat-rate or billed-time parameters, using proper diagnostic procedures.
• Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe work area and assist in keeping the overall shop organized and clean, including collecting and disposing of trash.
• Observe all safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
• Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; monitor own work to ensure quality and consistency.
• Proactively seek and participate in technical and product training opportunities.
• Follow instructions and respond promptly to management direction.
• Treat management, coworkers, and customers with respect; contribute to building a positive, team-oriented work environment.
• Begin each workday with a positive attitude and help foster a sense of “team” in the service department and across other departments.
• Suggest and support process improvements to enhance service quality and efficiency.
• Maintain a professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor at all times.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Job Requirements
• Proficiency with computers, including the ability to use OEM diagnostic software.
• Proficiency in electrical diagnostics and repairs.
• Proficiency in complete engine teardown and rebuild.
• Proficiency in welding.
• Ability to learn quickly and retain technical information.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Ability to successfully multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with tractors, heavy equipment, and/or lawn mowers is preferred.
• Team-oriented, flexible, and focused on maintaining a high level of performance.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Technician experience: 5 years (required).
• Tractor or equipment industry experience: 2 years (preferred).
