Planning Intern at Goodwyn Mills Cawood LLC – Birmingham, Alabama

Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) is one of the largest privately-held architecture and engineering firms in the Southeast. GMC has an opening for Planning Intern to support on-going projects in Birmingham, AL office.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment on a variety of planning and design projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in planning, urban design, and community engagement.

Essential functions and responsibilities may include:

• Preparing illustrative maps, diagrams, and infographics.
• Researching and analyzing demographic, economic, environmental, and spatial data.
• Participating in community engagement efforts, including presentations and interactive workshops.
• Supporting the creation of planning documents.
• Collaborating on design concepts, plans, and recommendations.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

• Pursuing a degree in urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, ArcGIS, SketchUp, Rhino, or similar tools.
