JOB TITLE: Carpenter

LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital: 1425 Portland Avenue
Rochester, NY 14621
HOURS PER WEEK: 40 per week
SCHEDULE: Full time, Days, 7 am - 3:30 pm

Position Summary:

Provide carpentry and minor construction services to interior and exterior areas throughout the facility. Work involves performing carpentry and minor renovation work wall ceiling and flooring preparation/restoration utilizing a variety of techniques, tools, and materials/products as necessary to complete assigned task.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, coordinate, schedule and perform all carpentry and minor construction work that comes in through the work request system.
Work directly with supervisor or other Facilities leaders to plan, coordinate and prioritize other preparation/restoration work that is identified and approved to schedule.
Perform restoration and minor construction work such as (flooring installations, ceiling tile/grid replacements, wall finish work such as wall paper) and other removals and installations of equipment that may be mounted in areas of the building.
Communicates and updates facilities leaders and customers regarding task status, work schedule adjustments, issues or concerns and any other changes that may impact the task/project.
Has the knowledge and ability to utilize tools and equipment to perform carpentry work necessary to complete tasks in a professional manner.
Provides needed support and problem-solving techniques to support all other trade fields as needed for their successful completion of work assignments.
Has the knowledge and ability to read, interpret and understand operation equipment manuals, specification and other product data sheets to apply finishes or perform minor restoration/ construction work in a safe and professional manner.
Utilize basic knowledge of codes and other regulations related to the construction/restoration trade fields to complete assigned tasks with compliant outcomes.
Assist other team members in performing tasks assigned by facilities leaders during utility/equipment shutdowns as necessary to complete tasks/projects.
Assist department leadership in managing mechanical contractors work activities as assigned.
Maintain regulatory compliance with ICRA and PICRA safety plans, lockout tag-out, confined space, MSDS and all other regulatory programs as assigned to maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements such as DND, State, OSHA, NEC, SOC, etc. Report all unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor.
Documents all work performed and all training received (or given).
Communicates with all departmental/interdepartmental staff as required.
Attend meetings and in-services as scheduled.
Keep all logs current.
Maintain the appropriate inventory levels within established guidelines.
Adheres to purchasing and department specific procedures regarding supplies and materials
Keep records of work and makes reports.
Maintains documentation of projects performed in compliance with department standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Attribute:
Experience and knowledge in all areas of carpentry and construction to complete scheduled tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Health care experience preferred
Minimum of 5 years of carpentry or construction experience preferred.

Licensure/certification:
Certification for fire stopping (certification #FM4991) preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $19.75 - $25.06

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
