About This Position

AUDIOLOGIST, STAFF (MA)

Provide comprehensive audiologic diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to clients in a variety of clinical settings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides Diagnostic and/or Treatment Services - provided with 5% or less supervision

  • Independently provides services in clinical areas and one “Other” clinical areas: Vestibular Function, Pediatric Testing, Adult Testing, Hearing Aid Dispensing, Other: ABR, Aural habilitation/rehabilitation (includes treatment services), Auditory Processing, FM systems)
  • Consistently selects, utilizes, and accurately interprets appropriate, testing materials and/ or instrumentation based on presenting needs and department protocols.
  • Seeks input/feedback/questions from patient/ caregivers consistently, utilizing a variety of strategies/ techniques to assure successful communication.

Documentation- completed with 5% or less supervision

  • Clinical Documentation: Clinical documentation consistently includes thorough discussion of reason for referral, problem/goals, interpretation of results, progress, and thorough recommendations/plans that consistently follow department protocols.
  • Makes appropriate clinical recommendations and referrals, and consistently follows dept procedures for completing such referrals.
  • Hearing Works documentation consistently includes reason for visit, assessment of problem/concern and plan of action.
  • Clinical documentation is accurate, thorough, and complete at least 85% of the time according to dept standards.
  • Departmental Documentation: Departmental documentation (e.g. HW hours, clinical and HW charge/ day sheets, school billing, PE submission, therapy attendance, etc) is accurate, timely and complete at least 95% of the time.
  • Hearing Works documentation and pricing for services are consistently thorough and accurate according to department standards and guidelines.

Communication

  • Consistently counsels patients/caregivers regarding findings, recommendations and/or carry over of therapeutic goals in a clear, concise manner.
  • Shares new applications of clinical knowledge/ skills with fellow staff at least once per year via direct training, group presentations and/or case reviews.

Efficiency/ Productivity

  • Proactively monitors clinical schedule, consistently notifies coordinator at least two business days in advance of known openings (openings of more than one hour per business day).
  • Always prioritizes and maximizes direct, billable patient care.
  • Consistently performs instrument/ equipment problem-solving/trouble-shooting.

Teamwork

  • Demonstrates ability to identify and address challenges, issues or problems, seeking support when needed to ensure a positive outcome or resolution.
  • Participates in at least 1 outreach activity per year. Outreach activities may include an educational program to internal or external customers, cultivating of referral sources, development of new programs, etc.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 1 year experience

EDUCATION

  • AuD or Masters Degree in Audiology

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • NYS License in Audiology; NYS Hearing Aid Dispensing Certification or eligible; ASHA-CCC or American Academy of Audiology membership
  • OTHER
  • If applicable, the individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
  • Must have own transportation to move from site to site and/or home to home to provide patient care.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and demonstrate ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
