SUMMARY

The Facilities Maintenance Technician II applies intermediate-level technical expertise to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment and facility systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role takes on greater independence and system complexity than entry-level technicians while supporting senior staff on advanced equipment, contributing to TPM activities, and helping sustain a safe and productive work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and unscheduled repairs on production equipment, machine tools, and facility systems.

• Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log, track, and manage work orders in support of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical circuits, pneumatic systems, PLCs, servo motors, and mechanical components using schematics and OEM manuals.

• Lead installation and relocation of production equipment and facility systems.

• Install new electrical circuits in compliance with applicable safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hot Work, Arc Flash, and PPE requirements.

• Perform mechanical and parameter adjustments; dismantle and reassemble machines for repairs or PMs as needed.

• Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors, including technical support for CNC machines and production equipment.

• Maintain emergency and life-safety systems, including emergency lighting, fire pump systems, alarms, fire extinguishers, and eyewash stations.

• Assist in developing and reviewing PM procedures and policies.

• Manage spare parts inventory to support maintenance activities.

• Collaborate with the Environmental Health & Safety team to maintain a safe work environment.

• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards and restock work area at end of shift.

• Participate in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives.

• Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and PPE requirements.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred.

• 4+ years of maintenance experience in electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical equipment.

• Background in electrical circuits required.

• Tool repair experience preferred.

• Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment preferred.

• Journeyman-level certification in Electrical, HVAC, Machining, or Tool & Die preferred, with demonstrated experience in electro-mechanical control systems.

• Equivalent electro-mechanical apprenticeship training or technical education may be considered in lieu of journeyman certification.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Certified Electrician preferred.

• Valid driver's license required.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English required.

• Proficiency in a second language preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

• Basic arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.

JOB SKILLS

• Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measurement instruments.

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); familiarity with CMMS platforms preferred.

• Working knowledge of electrical controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and OEM equipment manuals.

• Skilled in troubleshooting electro-mechanical equipment and identifying root causes of equipment failures.

• Ability to perform basic PLC diagnostics and interpret I/O status to support troubleshooting efforts.

• Hands-on experience with mechanical disassembly, component replacement, and reassembly.

• Ability to identify and replace worn or failed components to minimize unplanned downtime.

• Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean manufacturing principles.

• Effective communicator across verbal, written, and in-person formats; able to relay technical information clearly.

• Collaborates well within a team environment while maintaining the ability to work independently.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in maintenance documentation and work order completion.

• Sound time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple work orders.

• Adaptable to shifting production priorities and changing work conditions.

• Demonstrates reliability, accountability, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical requirements outlined below indicate those necessary to fulfill this position's core responsibilities. While performing job duties, the employee will regularly engage in activities such as using hands to finger, handle, or feel and communicating verbally. Additionally, the employee will frequently need to reach with hands and arms while standing and walking as part of the role. Occasional lifting and movement of objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds and using a ladder may be required. This position also demands specific vision capabilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

• ASTM F–2412–2005, ANSI Z41–1999, or ANSI Z41–1991 rated safety toe shoes in specific areas.

• Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety-rated glasses in specific areas.

• Hearing protection in specific locations.

• Ability to compile with JSA in specific areas.

TRAVEL

Travel is not required for this position.

SALARY INFORMATION

According to several states' laws, this position's salary range falls between $28 and $40 per hour. However, this salary information is merely a general guideline.
