Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Technical Writing Intern to join our Integrations team. In this role, you will create clear, concise, and accurate documentation to support both internal teams and external university clients in understanding and using integration-based processes. Your work will help simplify complex technical concepts and ensure that university administrators and IT staff can effectively leverage integration features across Terra Dotta’s platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Integration Documentation: Develop internal and client-facing documentation for integration processes, including step-by-step implementation guides, troubleshooting manuals, and best practice recommendations.
- Content Development: Collaborate with integration engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to gather technical information and create content that is clear, accurate, and accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences, including university IT staff and study abroad administrators.
- Process Mapping: Work with cross-functional teams to understand integration process workflows and translate them into structured documentation formats such as flowcharts, diagrams, and written guides.
- Consistency and Quality: Ensure that all documentation is consistent in style, tone, and format across Confluence spaces and SharePoint sites. Edit and proofread content to maintain a high standard of quality.
- Client Support Materials: Create user-friendly implementation guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles for university clients, helping them navigate integration setup and ongoing maintenance.
- AI-Assisted Documentation: Explore and leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate documentation creation, improve consistency, and support knowledge management initiatives across the Integrations team.
- Feedback and Iteration: Gather feedback from internal teams (Engineering, Support, Client Success) and external university users to continuously improve documentation and ensure it meets the needs of diverse user groups.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for varied audiences.
- Willingness to learn about API-based integrations, authentication protocols, and data exchange between enterprise systems.
- Ability to work with documentation and project management tools such as Confluence, SharePoint, and JIRA.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfort working in a cross-functional environment across Engineering, Support, and Client Success teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience or coursework in technical writing, documentation, or content strategy.
- Experience with diagramming tools such as Lucidchart, Miro, or draw.io.
- Understanding of software development processes and integration technologies.
- Familiarity with higher education technology environments or SaaS platforms.
- Experience with or interest in AI-powered writing and productivity tools.
