About This Position

Job Summary:


We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in HVAC systems within manufacturing environments. This role is responsible for the design, optimization, and maintenance of HVAC systems that support production processes, environmental control, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has strong experience in industrial ventilation, process cooling/heating, and contamination control, with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and safety in manufacturing operations.


Key Responsibilities:


Lead the design and engineering of HVAC systems for manufacturing facilities, including process ventilation, dust collection, cleanrooms (if applicable), and thermal control systems.Perform heating and cooling load calculations based on process requirements, occupancy, and equipment heat loads.Design ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts to support production efficiency and environmental standards.Select and size HVAC equipment such as chillers, boilers, air handling units (AHUs), exhaust systems, and filtration systems.Ensure systems meet regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and industry standards (e.g., ASHRAE).Support plant operations by troubleshooting system issues, improving performance, and minimizing downtime.Collaborate with production, maintenance, EHS (Environmental Health & Safety), and facilities teams.Lead or support capital projects, including system upgrades, retrofits, and new facility expansions.Conduct energy assessments and implement efficiency improvements to reduce operating costs.Oversee installation, commissioning, and validation of HVAC systems in manufacturing settings.Develop and maintain engineering documentation, SOPs, and preventive maintenance strategies.Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.


Qualifications:


Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.7+ years of HVAC engineering experience, with a strong focus on manufacturing or industrial environments.In-depth knowledge of industrial HVAC systems, including process ventilation, make-up air systems, and environmental controls.Proficiency in engineering and design tools (e.g., Solid Works, AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, TRACE or similar tools.Familiarity with energy codes and sustainability standards (e.g., UL 60335-2-40, LEED).


Skills & Competencies:


Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities in complex industrial systems.Excellent project management and organizational skills.Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and engineering teams.Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical.Focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.


Work Environment:


Mix of office, production floor, and fieldwork in manufacturing facilities.Exposure to industrial conditions such as noise, heat, dust, and mechanical equipment.May require occasional travel between plant sites.


Preferred Experience:


Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial HVAC systemsKnowledge of building automation systems (BAS)Experience in sustainable design and energy efficiency projects
