Description:
SUMMARY
SHRM’s paid internship program enables students to participate in valuable real-world work experience through a variety of tailored assignments within their areas of interest and fields of study. Students will be tasked with different team-specific projects and tasks, and participate in professional development projects and events to prepare them for their future careers.
This is a paid internship starting at $20.00/Hour.
This is a 10-week, summer internship from June 2, 2026 - August 6, 2026.
Responsibilities:
- Assist communications team with drafting speeches, talking points, scripts, press releases, and other executive communications materials
- Assist with creation of executive presentations
- Conduct research for executive presentations, interviews, and other speaking engagements
- Draft executive briefs and other prep materials for executives
- Assist in facilitating all products project an image reflective of SHRM’s brand guidelines
- Suggest and create content for different projects and initiatives
- Carry out division-specific tasks/activities as assigned by the supervisor throughout the internship
- Manage deliverables and provide regular updates
Education & Experience Requirements
- Field of study: pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, or a related field
- 0-3 years of relevant work experience

Physical Requirements
This position operates in a typical office environment and requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Physical requirements may include:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, handling documents, and using office equipment.
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds as needed.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with colleagues and stakeholders.
Work environment
Hybrid Schedule (3 Days In-Office / 2 Days Remote):
This position follows a hybrid work schedule, with Tuesday through Thursday in office and Monday and Friday remote. Employees must be available during standard business hours, with core hours beginning between 8:00–9:00 a.m. and concluding between 5:00–6:00 p.m. local time.
