About the Role:
The Welder / Fabricator plays a critical role in the Steel, manufacturing and construction industries by creating, assembling, and repairing metal structures and components. This position requires precision and expertise in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to fabricate parts that meet exact standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for selecting appropriate materials, cutting, shaping, and joining metal parts using various welding techniques. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are essential to ensure the structural integrity and quality of the finished products. Ultimately, this role contributes to the successful completion of projects by delivering durable and reliable metal fabrications that meet client and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a welder and fabricator in a professional setting. 7+ years preferred.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) or equivalent recognized credential.
- Ability to operate welding and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with multiple welding techniques including MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
- Familiarity with metal fabrication software and CNC machinery.
- Knowledge of industry safety standards and OSHA regulations.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing or construction environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding and fabrication requirements.
- Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using welding equipment such as MIG, TIG, and arc welders.
- Inspect and test welded joints and structures to ensure quality and compliance with safety standards.
- Maintain and operate fabrication tools and machinery, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to meet project deadlines and specifications.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Document work performed and materials used, maintaining accurate records for quality control and reporting.
