Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in full-cycle payroll processing while understanding the impact of multi-state payroll regulations and overall compliance.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process multi-state payroll for 300+ employees on a biweekly or semi-monthly basis
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, adhering to deadlines
- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure confidentiality
- Process and audit daily HR Changes including but not limited to New Hires, Terminations, Tax Changes, and Direct Deposit Changes
- Responds timely and appropriately to phone and written employee inquiries and associated requests regarding payroll issues and processing
- Collaborate with HR and Accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing
- Prepare, review and distribute payroll reports
- Perform other assigned tasks and projects
What You Need to Succeed:
- High School graduate or equivalent is required
- Three (3) or more years of full-cycle payroll processing experience required
- FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification is preferred
- Knowledge of payroll processes, compliance, and record keeping
- Daily use of Excel, how to create and/or navigate V-Lookup & pivot tables
- Experience with Paylocity or other cloud based HRIS system is required
- Customer service oriented: high interpersonal skills with effective listening; ability to communicate to key stakeholders across multiple levels of the Company
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, consistently meet deadlines, and proactively anticipate & resolve issues with minimal day-to-day direction
- Military experience equivalency may substitute for some requirements
The Physical Requirements:
- This role requires full-time, in-office attendance. Remote or work-from-home options are not available
- Talk, hear, and see (including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus)
- This is largely a sedentary (seated) role. However, light to medium work exerting up to 25 pounds of force to move objects may occasionally be required
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
- Work hours may vary due to business needs
- No travel requirements outside of the metro Houston, TX area
