About This Position

Description:

Why This Role Matters

This role is being added to strengthen the day-to-day execution of Human Resources within a growing manufacturing environment in California. The HR Generalist will serve as the primary point of contact for managers and employees on routine HR matters, helping to manage employee relations, performance processes, and compliance activities in a complex regulatory environment.

This position is designed to bridge the gap between administrative HR support and strategic HR leadership—owning core HR processes while allowing the HR Manager to focus on higher-level initiatives, risk management, and organizational planning.

Who This Role Is a Good Fit For

  • Someone with 3–5 years of hands-on HR Generalist experience
  • Comfortable operating with a high level of ownership across multiple HR functions
  • Experienced in supporting a full range of HR activities, not just one specialty area
  • Confident handling employee questions and guiding managers through HR processes
  • Able to balance independent decision-making with knowing when to escalate
  • Interested in continuing to build depth in employee relations, compliance, and performance management

Who This Role Is Likely Not a Fit For

  • Candidates looking for a senior-level or strategic HR leadership role
  • Individuals without direct experience in employee relations and performance management
  • Candidates who prefer highly structured environments with narrowly defined responsibilities
  • Those not comfortable working in a manufacturing or operations-focused environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for managers and employees on HR-related questions
  • Support employee relations by gathering information, documenting issues, and making recommendations
  • Draft disciplinary documentation including written warnings and performance improvement plans
  • Partner with managers on performance management processes and follow-up
  • Coordinate and support recruiting efforts including job postings, interview coordination, and offer preparation
  • Own onboarding experience including new hire check-ins and integration
  • Administer leave processes including FMLA/CFRA and coordination of accommodations
  • Maintain and update HR policies and procedures as needed
  • Track and support compliance requirements, including training and documentation
  • Assist in HR reporting and metrics tracking
  • Partner with the HR Coordinator to ensure accurate and timely HR administration
Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of Human Resources experience in a Generalist or equivalent role
  • Working knowledge of employee relations, performance management, and California employment law fundamentals
  • Experience supporting managers directly on HR matters
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or operations environment
  • Experience supporting leaves of absence (FMLA/CFRA)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field

What Success Looks Like in the First 90 Days

  • Builds working relationships with managers and employees across the organization
  • Begins independently handling routine HR questions and issues
  • Supports employee relations cases with clear documentation and follow-through
  • Takes ownership of onboarding experience and improves consistency
  • Reduces the volume of day-to-day HR questions directed to the HR Manager

Why Work Here

  • Opportunity to take on meaningful HR responsibility and expand your scope
  • Exposure to employee relations and real-world HR decision-making
  • Direct partnership with HR leadership
  • Stable and team-oriented manufacturing environment
  • Clear path for continued development within HR

Physical / Work Environment

  • Up to 20% travel required; candidate must be comfortable regularly working on-site across locations to support managers and employees
  • Office and manufacturing floor environment
  • Frequent interaction with employees in a production setting
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, walking, and computer use
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
