The Surveying Project Manager is responsible for overseeing field and office staff, ensuring project accuracy and quality, maintaining client relationships, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
Requirements:Key Responsibilites:
1. Manage multiple land surveying projects, including boundary, topographic, construction staking, and ALTA/NSPS surveys
2. Oversee survey field crews and office technicians, providing direction, scheduling, and quality control
3. Review and certify survey data, plats, and legal descriptions for accuracy and compliance
4. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and internal engineering teams
5. Prepare project proposals, scopes, budgets, and schedules
6. Ensure compliance with state and local regulations and surveying standards
7. Coordinate with civil engineers, planners, and other stakeholders
8. Mentor junior staff and support professional development
9. Implement and maintain safety standards for field operations
10. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Demonstrated experience managing projects and leading teams
2. Strong knowledge of survey equipment, GPS, total stations, and data collection software
3. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and related surveying software
4. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
5. Experience with drone/UAS surveying and LiDAR technologies
6. Familiarity with Wisconsin DOT standards and municipal requirements
7. Business development or client relationship experience
Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field
2. 5–10+ years of progressive experience in land surveying
License or Certification Requirements:
1. Valid driver’s license is required
2. Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Wisconsin (required or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe)
Physical Requirements:
1. This position requires the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
2. Be able to walk and climb over rough terrain
PPE Requirements:
1. Hi-Visibility clothing should be worn on job sites and in the field as necessary.
