About This Position
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting for a portfolio of real estate assets. The position will entail building strong cross-functional relationships throughout the accounting team and organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Beyond preparation of the organization’s reports and financial statements, other specific functions and duties of the position include, but are certainly not limited to:
- Prepare month end financials, meeting tight reporting deadlines.
- Track and report on progress of development projects including processing of construction pay applications.
- Review and/or preparation of:
- Sales & use tax returns.
- Cash management and processing of daily transactions.
- Responsible for accuracy of the general ledger and compliance with internal accounting policies.
- Responsible for accurately coding transactions to the appropriate investment and GL account, accurate allocations of costs among investment entities.
- Responsible for documentation of all journal entries including calculations and approvals.
- Process improvement and risk mitigation.
- Account reconciliations including investigation and resolution
- Month end close tasks—including but not limited to management fee calculation, accruals, ensuring all transactions are recorded and books are complete and accurate.
- Financial statement preparation and GAAP compliance.
- Annual budget preparation.
- Responding to ad-hoc requests
- Contributing to accounting group projects
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the team.
Experience & Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
· 3+ years of experience as staff accountant in a multi-operational company preferred but not required.
· Understanding of US GAAP.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Strong numerical and analytical skills.
· Outstanding computer expertise and highly skilled in utilizing Microsoft Excel.
· Proficient abilities in resolving issues and managing time effectively.
· Highly organized and detail oriented.
· Ability to work well with a team and autonomously.
· Real estate and/or construction experience is a plus.
· Sage 100 or Sage Contractor experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Duties performed in a standard, indoor office environment.
· Be stationary for prolonged periods of time.
· Stooping, bending, twisting, reaching and repetitive motion may be required in completion of job duties.
