Duties & Responsibilities:
- The CMA/LPN is responsible for providing quality patient care under the direction of a physician or licensed healthcare provider in a clinical practice
- The role includes rooming patients, taking vitals and health history, documenting in an electronic medical record, giving injections, and assisting with minor procedures
- They maintain and review patient records, communicate plans of care, and may assist with scheduling appointments and referrals based on urgency and availability
- The CMA/LPN also screens patients for appropriate information, provides patient education, observes and reports on patients' conditions, and administers prescribed treatments and tests as ordered by the physician
- Room patients and take vitals and health history
- Document in an electronic medical record
- Assist with injections and minor procedures
- Maintain and review patient records and communicate as appropriate
- Maintain exam room supplies and cleanliness of the patient care environment
- Respond to and triage phone calls
- Prepare patients for physician exams and procedures
Qualifications:
LPN
- Must be a licensed LPN in the state of SC
Clinical Assistant
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience preferred.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- Medical Assistant certification by AAMA, NHA, AMT or NCCT is required.
- CMA must be a graduate of a post-secondary medical assisting education program accredited by the National Healthcare Association, or its successor; by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association, or its successor; by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools, or its successor; or by any accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education. The accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program must include courses in anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, medical laboratory techniques, and clinical experience.
