This operator will be responsible for safe and efficient operation of our CNC saws. This process will cut component parts to the proper dimensions. The machine will also mark (or label) each part for identification.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Machine startup at the beginning of each shift.
- Ensure the machine tooling is properly functioning.
- Select the appropriate job from the computer screen.
- Able to safely replace saw blades and make alignment adjustments.
- Properly load the machine with material.
- Follow machine specific work instructions.
- Ensure quality standards are met.
- Ensure all work is completed for the order.
- Move finished material to the next process step.
- Mark completed orders as cutout complete in Salesforce.
- Clean the machine and the work area throughout the shift.
- Proper machine shut down after the end of the shift.
- Perform any designated maintenance tasks.
Essential Skills
- Basic understanding of operating CNC type machinery.
- Basic machine maintenance skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend drawings and company paperwork.
- Basic understanding of wood species.
- Able to load material. Pieces can be up to 50 lbs.
- Able to use tape measure and calipers.
- Able to perform to production demands.
- Ability to determine common quality defects in material.
- Ability to perform other duties requested or required by management
- Follow direction and instruction - coachable
- Work well with other employees
- Follow safety guideline
- Ability to work overtime when needed
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
- Remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
- Move about the factory floor to access machinery, materials, and product storage.
- Transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Operate, activate, and use production machinery and hand tools that require repetitive
motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Detects and inspect parts for quality control at close vision (less than 20 inches) and assess safety hazards from a distance (20 feet or more).
The employee will be exposed to a manufacturing environment where the noise level can be loud and will work around moving mechanical parts. Regular exposure to airborne particles and temperature fluctuations should be expected. The use of appropriate PPE is required.
