About This Position
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Design innovative products that offer clear commercial advantages while also taking into account safety and environmental impact throughout the lifecycle of the product
• Design equipment and methods to improve operating efficiencies and quality of products, including the development of preventative maintenance schedules
• Draft, design and recommend layout of equipment, materials and workspace for maximum efficiency.
• Review engineering specifications, work instructions, assembly guides and related information to create best practices for manufacturing
• Working closely with maintenance to keep the plant operating well. Purchase and source replacement parts as required. Also design of new replacement components.
• Recommend methods for improving utilization of personnel, material, and utilities.
• Manage capital projects from new equipment purchase, equipment improvement and new site construction.
• Review production reports, material specifications and material technical data to ensure proper processes.
• Analyze, recommend, design and implement enhancements to existing work methods, flows and processes to improve current capabilities (One piece flow, poka yoke, Lean Manufacturing).
Requirements:Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably materials science, industrial engineering, electrical engineering or mechanical engineering. Work experience in an industrial setting preferred.
• In depth knowledge of glass cutting and tempering processes preferred.
• Must be comfortable interacting with employees on the plant floor, training based on work instructions you develop and supporting operations through hands on actions rather than just giving advice.
• Fundamental knowledge of manufacturing practices and procedures to effectively resolve workflow issues.
• Strong planning, organization, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to gather, analyze and interpret information and develop, recommend and implement solutions.
• Must have ability to work independently with little supervision and as a contributing member of a team.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and Visio.
• Experience with AutoCAD/SolidWorks is strongly preferred.
