Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000 annually

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Daily Laboratory Operations
- Oversee day-to-day Molecular, FISH, and Flow Cytometry laboratory workflow.
- Perform and verify staff training and competency assessments.
- Process and analyze specimens according to laboratory procedures.
- Troubleshoot technical and operational issues.
- Maintain, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments.
- Plan daily work schedules and assignments.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
- Maintain accurate operational and quality documentation, including instrument maintenance and calibration, quality control checks, environmental and safety monitoring (temperature, incubators), reagent and consumable preparation, proficiency testing documentation, records for send-out specimens.
- Process specimens for send-out testing as needed.
- Participate in development and implementation of new instruments and procedures.
Team Leadership & Management
- Supervise, mentor, and support laboratory personnel.
- Conduct hiring, training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
- Communicate operational expectations and performance goals.
- Collaborate with laboratory leadership on quality metrics and operational strategy.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements (CLIA, CAP, COLA, OSHA, etc.).
- Oversee quality control programs and proficiency testing.
- Identify and resolve issues impacting test performance or result reporting.
- Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support internal and external audits.
Equipment & Inventory Management
- Maintain inventory levels to support uninterrupted workflow.
- Ensure reagents, consumables, and other solutions are prepared, properly stored, viable, and documented, with lot numbers, expiration dates, and any quality control checks recorded.
- Oversee instrument service, maintenance, and calibration records.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related healthcare field.
- Certification required: AMT, ASCP, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ laboratory experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong familiarity with regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP, COLA, state regulations).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking, and technical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Physical Demands
- Frequent sitting/standing and use of hands for fine motor tasks.
- Occasional lifting/carrying of items up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to operate laboratory instruments and perform precise lab work.
Work Environment
- Office and laboratory setting with significant interaction with staff, management, auditors, and clients.
- May require some travel by air or automobile.
- Adherence to OSHA and Universal Precaution procedures.
