About This Position
Job Title: Project Manager Job Purpose and Position Overview: Snow & Company is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Manager to join our dynamic shipbuilding team. This position has full authority and responsibility for project profits and losses and manages all aspects of assigned ship repair projects. The individual provides primary customer interface throughout the project. Through project team members, manages the application of labor and materials to achieve timely, better-than-bid results and assure customer satisfaction. As part of a fast-paced, deadline-driven team, you must thrive under pressure while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will be highly creative and possess excellent time management skills, take pride in delivering exceptional work, and consistently demonstrate reliability and a strong work ethic.Key Responsibilities:Project Leadership & ExecutionPlans, estimates, negotiates, staffs, directs work, and reconciles final billings on assigned projects. As the decision maker on the project, resolves internal issues related to the safe and productive management of the project.Serves as the primary customer interface, managing relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.Coordinates internal resources and third parties/vendors for the successful execution of projects.Interprets specifications, plans project sequencing, and coordinates all phases of the project to prevent delays and avoid rework.Writes timely and accurate documentation for each job and contributes accordingly to final specifications.
Project Coordination & OversightTracks material requirements and coordinates with the purchasing team to ensure timely procurement of all necessary items.Collaborates and communicates with internal teams and stakeholders to resolve challenges and ensure successful outcomes.Resolves day-to-day issues with customers, owners, and other interested parties, representing the Company fairly and consistently.Ensures that change order requests are properly written, reviewed, and approved before submission to the Project Management team.Confers with supervision, project management staff, inspectors, and material suppliers to resolve repair problems and improve methods.Project Performance & DeliveryMeets or exceeds customer expectations for quality, productivity, and safety, while managing scope and pricing changes to ensure customer satisfaction and profitable project closure.Prepares periodic management reports on work progress, materials used, and costs; adjusts work schedules as needed based on findings. Ensures adherence to established work processes.Arranges sea trials and ensures proper documentation of results.Performs final inspection of completed vessels to ensure all Quality Assurance (QA) discrepancies and known defects are resolved.Coordinates and ensures a smooth handoff post-delivery to support successful project closeout. Essential Skills:Must be extremely organized with attention to detail and the ability to multi-taskExcellent contract, specification and print interpretation skills.Strong leadership skills including conflict resolution, real-time decision-making, high performance expectations and the capability of inspiring the team to meet them.Demonstrated financial savvy as it applies to labor-intensive projects.Excellent communication skills internally and directly with customersStrong entrepreneurial outlook with a clearly demonstrated sense of ownership over both the process and the results.Demonstrated hands-on approach to problem-solving and knowing the project.Demonstrated financial savvy as it applies to labor-intensive projects. Positive, can-do attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement Required Education/Experience:A minimum of 8 years of Marine project management experience is required. Physical Requirements: This position is based in an office within an active boatyard and requires regular visits to vessels and production areas. These environments involve moderate to high noise levels, uneven surfaces, and physical access challenges such as inclined gangways and vertical ladders. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and strict adherence to safety protocols are mandatory.
