Position Overview:

The Project Consultant (Sales Rep) for MotzScapes is responsible for driving growth by helping schools, parks, and communities bring playground projects to life. You will generate new opportunities, build strong relationships with new and existing Motz customers, and lead projects from first conversation to install. This role is built for someone who thrives on competition, earns trust quickly, and takes pride in delivering solutions and experiences that are remarkable, responsive, and reliable.

Key Activities:

  • Direct an overall 3R (Responsive, Reliable, Remarkable) experience for clients from project conception through construction.
  • Build, manage, and optimize a sales pipeline from prospecting to closing.
  • Rapidly follow up on inbound marketing and referral leads, including bid-board activity.
  • Work collaboratively with sales team members across MotzScapes, The Motz Group, and Motz365 to identify leads and cross-sell opportunities.
  • Conduct site visits to build trust and quality opportunities.
  • Present solutions and close deals while maintaining margin discipline.
  • Lead job-specific strategic pricing.
  • Support proposal development and clarify project scope.
  • Ensure smooth handoff of project details to estimating and operations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers until project handoff.
  • Collaborate with President, GM, Sales Team, Project Operations Lead, and internal support and installation to align with customer expectations.
  • Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and the places where our customers are.

Skills Required:

  • Self-starting with a vision for growing the business.
  • Strong consultative sales skills, including needs assessment, solution presentation, and proposal development.
  • Works effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Support accurate data management through the use of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and disciplined follow-up.
  • Strong written communication skills with experience in writing proposals for products and services.
  • Demonstrated success in territory development or new market growth.
  • Strong business acumen with confidence in margins, pricing, and product line profitability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Desire and interest to work toward industry certifications such as Certified Playground Safety Inspector is a plus.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of sales experience, preferably in construction, outdoor products, playground equipment, recreational equipment, home improvement, landscaping or related field.

Or

  • 5+ years of experience in school administration, school operations, park and recreational operations, purchasing role, etc.
  • Ability to read site plans, understand basic layout considerations, and coordinate with installers and design teams is a plus.
  • Non-compete. Must not be encumbered by any type of restriction non-compete agreement.

Location & Travel:

This role requires local travel within the Eastern Ohio region 3–4 days per week to visit schools, parks, and community project sites. Most travel is same day with minimal overnight stays.

A significant portion of the first 90 days will be spent at the Motz HQ in Cincinnati, Ohio. Beyond 90 days, bi-monthly trips to the HQ are expected. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site visits, customer meetings, and occasional trade shows. Company vehicle will be provided.
