About This Position
Under general supervision, assists prospective and current tenants under the Ak-Chin Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program.

High School diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in housing assistance programs or programs directly related to the functions of this position; OR any combination of experience and education. Prefer a candidate who has a Bachelor's degree in Business or closely related filed and has work experience with a Tribal Housing Department or Program. Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and be able to meet the Community's insurance carrier requirements. Must successfully complete a background check.
Additional Requirements: Must possess certification for the Tax Credit Program or the ability to obtain one as a condition of employment within 30 days from date of hire.
- Secures income verification, household information, and other documents to determine eligibility for admission and continued occupancy.
- Manages the on-going compliance with Section 42 rules and regulations.
- Monitors annual operating budgets and tracks financial results.
- Counsels all active tenants of their rights and responsibilities, understanding their rental lease agreements, and correcting and complying with violations of their rental lease agreements in order to prevent eviction either through one-on-one training sessions, home visits, or group sessions in the community.
- Conducts regularly scheduled home inspections to ensure compliance with maintenance requirements and periodic inspections to monitor approved home repairs and minor renovations.
- Assists in the development of brochures, flyers and other information relevant to housing services and programs.
- Assists in the development, coordination, and presentation of training sessions on housing services/basic home maintenance and programs to community members.
- Prepares reports as required and transmits correspondence to tenants.
- Assists with establishing, issuing, and interpreting operating policies for the tax credit program.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of federal assisted housing program requirements including Section 42 rules and regulations.
- Skill in giving public presentations for group settings.
- Knowledge and experience in computer word processing, spreadsheet and data base application programs.
- Knowledge and ability to develop corrective action plans in relation to federal and local policies.
- Ability to interact with housing and maintenance staff in providing information on housing services.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with people of varied educational, cultural and economic backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently.
