About This Position

Description:

Ascentec Engineering is hiring at our Dallas, Oregon facility! We are seeking highly skilled and experienced CNC Lead Machinists to join our team for these full-time positions. The ideal candidates will have extensive experience operating and maintaining CNC machine centers, including Okuma, Mazak, DMG-Mori DMU65, Fanuc Robodrill’s, and Haas. This role requires strong leadership skills and a minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining.

The schedules available are:

Swing Shift: Monday through Thursday, 4 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.; and

Weekend Night Shift: Friday through Sunday, 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.

This position is on-site (not remote/not hybrid) st our Dallas, Oregon facility and not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.

Requirements:

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Daily:

Machine Operation:

  • Set up, operate, and support manufacturing product CNC machine centers (Okuma, Mazak, DMG-Mori DMU65, Fanuc Robodrill’s, Haas).
  • Interpret technical drawings GD&T, blueprints, and CAD models to produce precision parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and make necessary adjustments.

Leadership and Supervision:

  • Lead and supervise a team of machinists and operators on the swing shift.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and productivity.
  • Coordinate work schedules, assign tasks, and ensure timely completion of production goals.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all machined parts meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Perform in-process inspections and final quality checks using precision measuring instruments.
  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to minimize defects and improve efficiency.

Weekly:

Review OEE Machine Utilization:

  • Analyze machine performance data to assess utilization rates.
  • Identify any downtime causes and propose solutions to minimize them.

Monitor Quality Defects:

  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring defects.

Drive Continuous Improvements:

  • Lead Kaizen events and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Encourage team members to suggest and participate in improvement activities.
  • Measure the impact of implemented improvements on production efficiency.

Implement Lean Manufacturing Techniques:

  • Apply Lean principles such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and Just-In-Time.

Leadership Discussions:

  • Meet with direct leadership to discuss weekly performance and improvement needs.
  • Provide updates on ongoing projects and highlight any challenges.
  • Develop action plans based on leadership feedback and strategic goals.

Shop Floor Engagement:

  • Spend time on the shop floor to observe processes and engage with operators.
  • Gather feedback from the team to identify potential areas for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and open communication.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in CNC machining preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining, with at least 3 years in a lead or supervisory role.
  • Proficiency in operating and programming Okuma, Mazak, DMG-Mori DMU65, Fanuc Robodrill’s, and Haas machine centers.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
